Just received another letter notifying a recall for a problem with the throttle pedal.

I'm extremely surprised that this is the 3rd attempt to rectify the same problem.

The list of cars seems to have widened too. It now covers all cars, except Cygnet and Vanquish, over a 6 year manufacturing period.

Was this the same the last couple of times?

Do you have details of the models / years / chassis ranges?

Cheers!

Yes, as above, it's all AML vehicles manufactured between November 2007 and the end of December 2013 with the exception of Cygnet and Vanquish.

They haven't given a range of chassis numbers, just a list of models.

The recall reference is RA-03-0017.

Previous recalls linked to this are RA-03-0016 and RA-03-0016V2.

What happens if the fault does occur?

Does all throttle action cease?

Presumably revs are not kept up.

AM's technical website gives the following title for RA-03-0017

"throttle pedal lever - incorrect material and adjustment of footwell scuff plate on LEFT HAND steering vehicles"

So that seems to exclude UK cars (and other RHD wink )
Does seem a bit half arsed have a third go at it though frown

You just get idle as the pedal mechanically breaks near the pivot point

Mikey that bit you've quoted from the tech web site appears on the letter as an "additionally" clause under the "what we will do" section.

Strange - that is actually the Title of the recall on the website, I don't have access rights at the mo so can't get the full detail.

The title on the website is just ambiguously worded (as is refers to two separate issues with one relating to LHD cars only).

Dealer has confirmed that it does indeed apply to all AML cars (except Cygnet and Vanquish).

Three attempts to fix one issue is poor in the extreme.

Confusing indeed Nick. confused

The letter clearly states that your model of car, manufactured when it was, needed the replacement component.

Was your car covered by either of the last 2 recalls for this?

Woollie, my car is chassis number 01344 (so probably in the same sort of range as yours?).

It definitely needs doing (mine is getting done on Tuesday next week)

The letter I got is fairly clear too but, as mentioned earlier, talks about an additional issue to be addressed on LHD models.

Mine is 1359. Well, if the letter says do it and the dealer says do it then I guess it needs doing smile

I never got round to doing the last recall so this will be my first attempt at the fix.

whoami is saying there are two actions to the recall

1) Incorrect Material Specification - ALL cars in the range

AND

2) Adjustment of the Footwell Scuff-Plate on Left Hand Steering Vehicles (not RHD cars)

Shame they aren't clearer and don't have some way of checking cover VIN online?

yes

The fix for part one takes 20 minutes or so.

Plus about 3 months for the backlog of replacement parts.

You mean it's not been covered previously?

Nope they've never been in touch. Not sure what to say really as I trust Mike at Stratstone
