Thinking of a trip to Spain at Easter to visit family for 10 days in the Aston.
Quite like the idea of driving through Gibraltar too admit it would be slow as its a busy place.
Ferry from Portsmouth to Santander then a 9 hour drive through Spain.
Would book a bunk as its a 24 hour trip.
Not a cheap holiday though.
Any one on here took there Aston via this route?
Cheers
Paul

We came back on the ferry Santander to Portsmouth in September & you definitely need a bunk! Sorry - can't comment on the rest of the trip but go for it and we'll look forward to when you report back smile

Done it lots of times. Be careful which Brittany Ferries boat you book. One is swish and the other is grotty (ex Greek island hopper). Can't remember which is which, but the BF wikipedia entry will show. They also used to alternate between Bilbao and Santander, but if you are going to Gib I doubt it matters much.

We did it last year in the Q7... Down to Murcia.. Similar distance... Great roads and I'd love to do it in the Aston. Great roads and spectacular scenery in Northern Spain. The DBS would eat it..

Book a cabin though....it was as rough as hell on our return journey...

The car would look good in Gib

Did it late last year, Portsmouth to Santander. Spent some time in Rioja, then up through France and back on the euro tunnel. Didn't dancy the boat twice.

Some great driving roads in the Picos, and very little traffic.

Have been toying with that one myself for some time. We have an apartment near Estepona and are there at least once a year. Have always just hired a car when we get there so far. I'd love to do the trip in the DBS via Santander or Bilbao as suggested. My only concern would be parking up if we went out anywhere. Most of the Spanish seem not to give a toss about their cars. Parking is a nightmare around the Costa del Sol and most cars have at least 2 or more dents. Yes cruising around would be great but I don't think I'd dare stop anywhere! Been to Gib a few times and traffic is heavy especially in and out from mainland. Think the drive down would be great though.

Yep getting a buz now I'm going to contact my sister and thinking May.
Sorry Lime1 the other halfs coming otherwise and yes I get your concerns about parking.
Having someone who lives there should help I guess where to drive - park etc.
Got to drive through Gibralter no matter how slow that would be a highlight for me I would get it cleaned first though.

Ive done trip on ferry to santander. Then all the way down to Seville, then past gibralter and finally to Marbella. Spain has the best motorways. All to yourself. Northen spain coast is just amazing and then either drive down portugal or "ruta de la plata" the main artery in Spain through to Seville. The reactions to the Aston in those smaller towns is just so much fun. People nearly fall over has they turn and kids get out the phones to take fotos. Many have never seen an Aston before. Just imagine! Best driving experience ever, just check and re adjust tryre pressure due to heat.

I am going through Spain early April probably in my Aston this time. Going to Bilbau onto Madrid then Granada than Salamanca and finally Burgos before boarding ship again. Done this three times now. A bunk is a must and roads are great. Staying about three nights in all places. Cannot wait. You will love it!!!

Thanks

I would not bother. Many are dual carriage ways and are has good has our motorways. When on motorway, the tolls are usually on exits so not an issue.

Puerto Banus near Marbella is packed with expensive cars. Gibrlaltar interesting to visit but not an interesting drive.
