I'm sure it would be awesome, but I'd never buy one. Part of the resin I love modern Astons is the combination of creature comforts and speed.

Take away the aircon and comfy seats and I wouldn't be so keen.

My idea is to offer a lighter more basic car that would not be a stripped out racer but a lighter leaner alternative to the standard model, pricing would be similar to the standard car. Forget heated electric seats, Sat nav, sound system. In fact do away with a lot of fripperies but add exotic lightweight wheels, carbon fibre bonnet and tailgate. Most of all the car would be offered as a V8 and a V12. Aston would offer any number of options, deleting Air Con would not be an option. The whole idea is to chase other markets.

Aston Martin I believe sell more GT4 spec race cars than any other manufacturer. America is their biggest market. I am sure the Yanks would love what I am proposing .

In the meantime please tell me why I should not be considering a Porsche 991 GT3 instead ? wink

There are a few of us that would agree with you Rob. Look how many Pork GT3's are sold! A more track biased V12S would attract a new type of customer. Then our jobs would get that bit hairier!! yikes

Instead? Surely if you want a 991 GT3 that is the car to buy - that's not a sort of car which Aston can do better. Get one as well.

The vantage gt4 is the most popular you are right.

I agree that it sounds like good news and like the idea of a sharper aston v12 s, although I don't think it will be a gt3 rival, as even 100kg saving will still be a 1585kg car, that's still 100kg more than the 991 GT3, and just under 200kg heavier than the 458 Speciale.

I know Aston have been defined by their GT cars, but surely a sharper Aston for those who want them is great thing, although I cant help thinking a new model designed to be a light sports car from the start would be a better idea.
