Hi all.
I am sure I read on a recent thread about being able to buy a programmer for the TPMS system on the Vantage but now I want it I can't find it.
I have purchased a second set of wheels and fitted them with SottoZeros but don't really want to pay the local dealer £100 plus to reprogramme the system each time I swap the wheels over.
Does anyone know where one can be purchased or was I just dreaming it.

This is the thread for a few days ago:

But as far as I could work out, the TPMS fitted to older cars in now obsolete. I tried to find a programmer myself but could not.

Thanks Adrian

I know they been using a self learn system for the last 2 or 3 years but hoping I can find a programmer for the old system, if not it will be the old fashioned method for part of each year.
Will have a read of the link thanks very much.

I believe the system is made by BF1Systems based in Norfolk.

Try giving them a call?

Hi Brent
That is a very kind offer but as I am going to need to carry out the operation twice a year when I swap from winters to summers and back I will try to get hold of one myself.
Out of interest how much was it.
Thanks again for the offer, it's good being a member of a forum where people are willing to help out others.

Answer from UK supplier Post 2010 models:

Pre 2010, the Vantage TPMS was made by a company called SmarTire, and wasn’t done by us. The sensors are fixed to positions on the car, and the system does not have the ability to automatically detect where the sensors are located, or even what sensors are on the car. Therefore the user has no option but to pay the dealer to reprogram the TPMS.

One option to consider which would be cost effective long term would be to source a SmarTire ECU brain, and have one programmed with the regular wheels, and the other with the track/winter wheels. When you swap wheels just swap over the module (it’s very easy).

The SmarTire ecu is no longer available new as they no longer support the Automotive market. Parts may be available through their distributors still or good ol'Ebay.

Thanks for the info Richard, sounds like a sensible idea just wonder if with the ECU being off the car for several months it would need to have power to it to retain the data.

There's no hold up battery in the unit, so that means any loss of power would wipe the memory if the info was not permanently stored. Therefore time should make no difference.

Wot he said.
Non volatile memory, like a USB stick.

If you can't find one any other way, give me a shout.
I've got a spare I was keeping as a backup.

Thanks Brent
I will bear that in mind if I can't find one by another route, don't want to be taking peoples spares unless there isn't a way round it.
Thanks

Hi guys,

just stumbled accross this thread with great interest as the "check tyres" message has been showing up on my dash ever since i had my wheels painted about 6 months ago. The place that re-fitted the tyres couldn't get the original tpms sensors to all stay in correctly so asked if it was ok to leave them out and to re-fit the tyres. As the system had given me nothing but grief with false warnings every other time you took the car out for a drive i told them that it was fine to leave them out.

I now have to live with the "Check Tyres" message that pops up everytime you start up the car, and having to press the Read button to get rid of it from view. I'd found the thread for disabling the tpms that involved a bit of wiring modification. I'd be willing to do that as a last resort but news of the smartire programmer tool sounds much more appealing. I've scoured the web to the best of my ability and not been able to locate one for sale anywhere it seems.

I see in this thread that divetheworld owns one such device, much to my envy :P I'd be willing to pay to borrow this programmer if it meant that i could code out the tpms system or at least sensors completely from my vehicle. Thus removing the incredibly annoying "check tyres" message! If you could contact me divetheworld through a PM on here that would be very very much appreciated biggrin

Thank you divetheworld....unfortunately I realised that I had an old email address registered still. This one I no longer have access to anymore either. Sorry to be a pain but could you resend the PM when you have a minute divetheworld. Thanks in advance.

You could just sent Mr Divetheworld a PM - job's a carrot.
