Vantage Service History gap and effect on residual values
Discussion
I am considering a V8 Roadster that was registered in Jan 11, 1st serviced in Jan 12 (around 4k miles) and last serviced in Dec 13 (around 7k miles).
My understanding is servicing is once a year, regardless of mileage.
What is the impact of the 2nd service being effectively 1 year late? From a mechanical perspective, I am not keen on oil being in an engine for 2 years, but could probably live with it since mileage elapsed is so low. From a valuation and residuals perspecitve, I have no idea.
Grateful for thougts and suggestions.

3k miles in that time period. Nothing to worry about, except did it miss any recalls, was there work that could have been carried out under the manufacturers 3 year warranty.
Car is barely run in with that total mileage. They are not some fragile car that can only be driven on sunny days.

Tricky one Sean. There's little doubt that the car/engine will be fine having missed a service, but some look deeply into service history before buying. I suspect it will depend on how long you intend to keep the car, and whether you are intending to keep the schedule up to date. If you kept it for, say, five years and had it serviced regularly, then that may negate any concerns from any buyer downstream. If it helps, I bought my V8V privately and there was evidence of a late service, but it didn't bother me as the car was spot on. Mind you, I won't be letting mine go any time soon as my wife has stated clearly that if I intend on 'wasting more money on cars' she will divorce me!

Once divorced you would not be able to afford a car. Better stick with the one you have then ! !bentley01 said:

difficult to predict what will happen though.
to my simple mind, a car with a spotless and on time service history will be worth more than another exact same car with such a service history gap .. understand that there are rarely, if ever, 2 exact same cars.
also less of an issue for cars less than 30k IMO.
car is with AM dealer and I assume all recall and warranty work was done last year when dealer got the car before the warranty expired.
