please remind me is there a solution that doesnt involve driving at 100mph and doing a full on emergency stop several times ? Injured my neck and IM really loathe to do this ,but the squealing is driving me nuts.

I assume you have carbon brakes as I have on V12V and like you the squeal drove me nuts and spoilt the fun of a nice drive especially in towns when heads turned for wrong reason. I played my face with a dealer and got new pads under warranty. Now squeal free. Oh and the 100mph to zero; does not work. It might get rid of problem temporarily but it comes back very quickly

Yup - just get your dealer to fit the softer compound pads. Mine have never squeaked once since they were fitted.

Yes, I should have specified as well, it's not just a case of getting new pads, but the change of compound which makes the difference.

Mmm, so you have the very expensive carbon brakes, but you don't want to brake hard?

Interesting reading. Mine squeak a bit. Not too much and I don't notice it all the time, but certainly more so when driving around town at lower speeds. In your experience does the squeaking get worse? In which case I will move to get them replaced under warranty... Feedback or your experiences would be appreciated.

Thanks

You go out for a drive and look forward to emergency stops from 100mph? Normally you'd only do that in an emergency, so generally avoid it.

Mine is booked in for a few things under warranty, including brake squeal. Can't wait to stop sounding like an old bus.

Does anyone know if there's a softer pad option for 2012 V8S yet? I don't mind doing a couple of quick stops to solve the problem for a few days but once the better half gets in the car and the squealing starts (brakes) it ain't an option.

Mark, while the softer pad option works a treat I am happy to take your car for several 100MPH to 0 stops free of charge on say the 21st March in the area of Rockingham whistle By the end of the day, the brakes won't squeal ...... honest biggrin

I hope you find this post equally as informative and helpful wink

As stated by all of the others, new pads is the only fix that works.

funny how many offers I get like that .

Alas my car is out of warranty so I would have to replace them at my own cost .

It may be out of general warranty, but a manufacturing fault/modification like that may still be covered under goodwill?

Mine was goodwill. They did a sound recording, sent it to AM, and the change of pads was authorised.

No amount of heavy braking resolved the squeaking with the original pads.

Much more noticeable at lower speeds ,and it doesn't get worse ,it's consistent .

Very interesting, didn't know there was a softer pad on the market, but am still having big problems with squeaking on the rears, i am on my second set with the green goo applied, the car also had a very good run over The Alps which i hoped would resolve said issue - but to no avail.
