Hi All,
I have seen a privately advertised 2006 V8V that I am considering looking at. During a conversation with the seller he said that the car came fitted with an after market exhaust sports system and due to this every so often an emissions light comes up on the dash. He says that he has had the car checked out and apparently it is due to the exhaust.
Does this sound feasible and has anyone else experienced this type of thing?
James.

Buy a cheap OBD code reader and clear the emission codes as and when they appear, it a 2 minute job.

These cars a prone to throwing emission codes, with no ill effects, the exhaust may be exasperating this.

There are oxygen sensors pre and post catalytic converter that report to the engine management relating to the air fuel mixtures. If it doesn't get the result it is expecting, you get an error.
There are a few different types of cat, variations include material (ceramic or metal core) and cell count (100, 200, 400 etc).
Upgraded or "different" cats allow the engine to breathe a little easier, but can cause errors if not done properly. Some companies modify the ECU to compensate.

It's likely you have a Cat upgrade. Sounds normal.
