After upgrading to the stiffer springs in Phase 1 it became abundantly clear that the dampers were not going to work so my Sport Pack Dampers have arrived and will be installed on Friday, but in the meantime, my O Z Racing official Aston Martin Racing Wheels have arrived and I did a test fit yesterday...SUCCESS!!!

The gun metal color is a perfect complement for the body color and this has sparked a visual modification project for the rest of the car...but that's another story...Phase 3.

I was worried that the 10" front and 11" rear wouldn't fit under the wheel wells (stock is 8.5" and 9.5"), but as you can see, there's plenty of space...in part due to going down to 18" diameter. They bolt right up and I gained tread width in the process...a GOOD thing for the track!

The front wheel does touch the upper arm on full steering lock in full sag, so I will adjust the steering lock limit a little to compensate, but it won't affect turning radius enough to matter.

So here are the before and after results...

Before
Front Wheels - Stock 8.5X19 - Tires 235/40/9.2 in. - Weight 46 pounds (Michy Pilot Super Sport)
Rear Wheels - Stock 9.5X19 - Tires 275/35/10.2 in. - Weight 50 pounds (Michy Pilot Super Sport)

After
Front Wheels - O Z 10X18 - Tires 265/35/10.5 in. - Weight 41 pounds (BFG g-Force R1 DOT Race)
Rear Wheels - O Z 11X18 - Tires 285/30/11.5 in. - Weight 44 pounds (BFG g-Force R1 DOT Race)

The only thing lacking are the titanium wheel nuts, so I will be on a quest for those...PM if you have some you are willing to part with. I'm already saving 22 pounds of unsprung weight and reducing rotational mass and while I know the titanium nuts won't make any measurable difference, they will match the color of the wheels perfectly!

Here are some preliminary pics...3 track days scheduled ending at Laguna Seca in June...track pics to follow...

Interesting stuff. Think I missed the first part, but sounds like you're going for more of a track car setup?

Laguna Seca is an amazing looking track, love seeing cars go through the corkscrew :-) we don't really gave anything like that in Europe.

I am seeking a balance between street and track...Phase 1 was simply H&R progressive springs which lowered the car 1 inch and adding Sport Pack anti-roll bars...but the damping rate was too slow so the car pitched front to rear...and I upgraded the brake pads to Pagid Yellow and put high temp brake fluid in to eliminate brake fade which was severe after 6 or so laps on stock pads and fluid...

Phase 2 upgrades the dampers and adds the race wheels and tires for track sessions which lowers the car nearly another inch...great for track, terrible for street, so I will stick with 19 inch wheels for street.

Here are a couple pics of the car in the corkscrew for your enjoyment before any changes...

Good idea - less unsprung weight, wider tyres
Need to do some research to see if those will go on Johhny
Where did you get them from?

"Ask Mikey...he likes it!"... from an old TV ad...

These wheels are impossible to find...I lucked into 2 new in box sets built in '08...PM me for details...

They should bolt straight up to your V8V just as easily...

The Volante comes standard with the 2nd body stiffening front plate which is part of the Sports Pack option on the coupe and is surprisingly unflexible on smooth surfaces...

If Bamford Rose were willing, I would upgrade to their stiffening kit for even more rigidity, but they have no interest in doing biz with we Yanks...

I'll be posting before and after lap times so you see the huge improvement these changes made, but not back to Laguna until June 20, so subscribe to see those results...bone stock with Bridgeys she ran 1:54...

A bit of digging and it turns out they are the current Vantage GT4 wheel!

FANTASTIC!!!

I would check with a race shop on how to source the GT4 wheels and how the price is on them in the 10X18 and 11X18 size if available...couldn't find them in the US.

BravoV8V said:
They look similar and are the new model and not available in the sizes I have, and they are cast, not forged.

I love those wheels.... We offered a set onto mine on Friday, they looked amazing but would lose quite a bit of turning.... Shame as they do look good... smile

As I mentioned, turning radius would be impacted and why I would not use them for street...only track where turning radius does not matter...

Not for lack of interest out there believe me - they just can't mail order their stuff, they need to fit and and warranty it. It's all very complex but that's why it works, it's very specific.

That's a great upgrade Bob, and really glad to see you using the car out on the track. Laguna is such a great one too!

This isn't engine internals...anyone with basic fab skills should be able to install frame bracing...including me...I built a helicopter...

The same could be said for their full header through Cat exhaust system...there are plenty of shops that could get it right...Bamford just needs the motivation and the time to make it possible outside their borders, but they are just too busy servicing you UK blokes...I'm just jealous!!!
