vantage roadster
Discussion
I have been lurking on the Aston forum for some time. I bought the book that was recommended to me for used buying and have have a good read of it and other buying guides etc.
About a year back I missed out on a low milage ex jamie oliver car (amazing spec) as another buyer came in and nipped it while I was thinking about it.
I have also been following the prices and it seems the prices have not really dropped since a year back for a low milage early roadster it seems to be around £45k. I am in a position to buy but I worried to get into the market at the wrong time and take a big hit, when would the new model be coming out and how much would you think it's release would affect the early lower milage cars.

You're a long time dead. If you have the money and you have found the car, buy it and then don't look at prices again. There will always be a cheaper one, but how long do you wait..?
+1It's like asking how long a piece of string is, just buy it and enjoy. Car's depreciate, end of

I look at it this way.
The first owner probably paid over £100,000 (with the options which they all have).
Find a low mileage perfect car (and there are lots out there), of the specification that you want, and you have got an 'as new' car and saved yourself £60,000.
You will never loose that much, and when prices do 'bottom', it is usually often convertibles that are worth the most.
Looking at your profile, a Vantage will give you the mid-engined handling that you like (front mid-engine).
Cars depreciate, but enjoy what you want.
If you want price appreciation, look at which Aston Martin RichB decided to buy, instead of a brand new Vantage.
Good luck with your searching.

So what would you estimate price would be in a couple of years, 35kor 30k or if I put about 10,000 miles on a 15,000 mile car bought around £45k.
Everyone has their own way of enjoying their car experience for me the purchasing right part is part of the fun, probably because that's my business nature or something.

Your estimate would appear reasonable, but of course, the dealer has some mighty overheads to pay, so the sell to buy spread is always present.
I can give you an interesting example of Roadster depreciation.
One is now on sale for £53,995.
In the last eighteen months it has been driven 5,000 miles.
During Oct 2012 the same car was for sale by another dealer at £54,000.
Apparently therefore, eighteen months retail depreciation = £5.
That beats a new Dacia Sand, with wind up windows.

What would you suggest are the must have options please
How early is early? Lots of stuff became stadard as the years went on, as per Grant's book.I'd want heated seats, satnav, Premium audio, parking sensors, xenons and nice wheels. It should have all that anyway apart from the audio which may require a bit more searching and is a b
h to upgrade later. I don't understabnd or care about things like Bluetooth but you might.Just spoke with a friend of mine who ran an amv8 roadster.
He was telling me that coming from a Porsche I won't understand the jump in running costs with Aston.
He said 3k for the clutch which will need changing every 8k miles if used hard and that a normal service is going to come in around 2k. Is this to be expected?
