'Setiously warn' has given the a slightly wrong impression, they seem down to 4/5 mm whereas after such little mileage I was expecting no signs of wear! It still means I've used half their life in 2k. Chris Harris and Tiff Needel would be impressed.
At 4/5mm you've plenty leftThe RE050's don't "go off" until you hit 3mm and IIRC they only ship with 6-7mm new

That puts you in line with Rob & my usage

BTW if you are leaving the traction control on and driving so the light comes on you will find the rear pads go before the front

I know about the rear brakes, it's even worse on cars without limited slip diff like my 6 series, it's often grabbing a rear wheel to stop it spinning and I think on that one it doesn't flicker the traction control light on the dash unless it has to also kill power.
I'd be interested in what's the current alternative tyre. I'm thinking mich super sports if they come in the right size.

What's the general feeling with replacing the Vantage tyres with something other that OEM?
I can't say I'm overly impressed with the current tyres compared to others ive had on previous cars
Replace them with Michelin Pilot Supersports. Plenty of previous threads about them.I can't say I'm overly impressed with the current tyres compared to others ive had on previous cars

Thanks for the offer. However, a set from mytyres is £986 fitted (£937 with 5% discount). My friendly independent is £884.
And people think Astons are expensive to run. About to swap winter tyres ( what winter?) off my BMW 530GT and struggling to find a set of summer tyres for less than £1,100, albeit dreaded run flats

For the wife's beama I got a set of run flats shipped to OZ from US for around half the cost quoted locally. Shipped airfreight and arrived in 3 days. I'll probably go the same path when the V8S needs new tyres. (Winter Tyres, never heard of them).
