I currently have a DB7 i6 and am seriously thinking of swapping it for a DB9. I was wondering what the 9 is like as a daily car and in particular town driving, stuck in traffic etc? I wouldn't be driving it every day, probably 3/4 days a week and I only do circa 3k miles a year anyway. Of course, I would also take it for a good blast on A roads etc at weekends. I love the 7 but I like the idea of a more modern Aston built in a modern factory.

It's the perect daily drive IMHO. I assume you'll want the TouchTronic? The manual is also very good, nice light clutch pedal and plenty of torque to pootle round in 3rd-4th.

Never used mine as a DD during 3.5 years of ownership but this was for business reasons. Otherwise, absolutely fine yes

Yes Yeti, I would go for the Touchtronic. What is the steering and turning circle like? On the 7 it is awful, often a 5 point turn when it should be 3. One of the annoying things with the 7.

Turning circle is at least 1m smaller on the DB9.

I have a different steering rack in mine (Sports Pack DBS) and that reduced the turning circle, or at last felt like it dod. But never noticed and issue with it before or after anyway.

I also have a Land Rover though...

I always thought the turning circle on a DBS was ever so slightly bigger than a DB9 confused

All sounds positive so far for the 9. The other thing I forgot to ask is depreciation. I would be probably looking at a 2005 model (couldn't really justify spending 60/70k on anything much newer) which seem to sell for between 30 - 35k for a decent one with FSH. No one knows for sure but do you think the older DB9's will get much lower than that or maybe have bottomed out?

Depreciation will be a minor issue on the model you are looking at. My 09 DB9 was depreciating at £1,400 per month at the beginning but was crystalised at an average of £800 per month when I sold it 42 months later. Demonstrates the slowdown in the curve as the car gets older.

Head on the block....guess....you may be looking at £300 per month? confused

That seems quite a lot for an older car. As you say though Jockman, only a guess.

It really depends who you buy from - Private Buy / Private Sell then I agree it is a lot. Dealer Buy / Dealer Sell then you are dealing with an animal who will do their utmost to protect their spread. If you pay a Dealer £35k for the car then sell it back to them 12 months later, on an average mileage, they would probably offer you something beginning with a 2 frown

I have owned a DB7 i6 and a DB7 Vantage and I now own a DB9 .....I have owned my 9 for almost 5 years and had no problems with it....Its dramatically more modern than your i6..........in the past 3 weeks I have been using it as a daily drive because I broke my other toy (crappy German car) without problems, in fact, its been great .......buying a 2005 @ say 33k you will probably loose another 3k/ year ....your biggest problem will be fuel costs ....mine does about 14mpg round town and 20 on a run
