2006 DB9 Side Vent removal - help required
Discussion
I am looking to remove the chrome side vents from my 2006 DB9 and have them refinished in Carbon Fibre to 'darken' the side of the car a little, and I need some help.
The main part of the vent is easy enough as you just undo a few of the wheel arch liner screws, arm in with a spanner and hey presto
What I don't know is how you remove the small piece of trim on the door which I know will involve removing the door card but I don't want to break any clips etc.
Anybody done this????
Thanks

Sure, pretty straight forward really if you know where to look for the fasteners.
First, this is how I have done it a good few times and is a guide, not instructions.........
To remove the inner door handle/armrest, remove the screw at either end

and carefully pull the handle away from the door as you need to remove the door handle release cable. If you sit sidesaddle in the car this helps and as you draw the handle away, you will see the inner handle trim panel which apparently does not screw on (which I modded so it did). Remove this and then carefully prise the plastic clip from the back of the armrest and unhook the handle which will let you remove the armrest completely.

Now pull off the trim panel on the inside of the door mirror. There is a screw inside the round duct at the front of the door (not the 3 screws that attach it)

and there is a small triangular piece of leather trim velcro'd in at the top of the rear of the door panel hiding another screw.
Looking up at the bottom of the door trim panel should reveal a further 4 attachment screws.
There are supposed to be screws in the top of the door panel behind the outer door top chrome trim but after removing it, I found AM didnt bother installing any so try removing the panel before you pull all that trim off.
If you have someone to assist you, it makes it easier whilst to manhandle the panel off with someone else handing you tools and supporting stuff whilst you untangle the cable. You also need to detach the electrical connections to the switches in the door panel and the puddle light and this is where the second set of hands is invaluable.
Really easy job if you take your time and dont get frustrated.

Note that my pics show anodised alloy hex bolts whereas you will need a set of Torx screwdrivers.
