What Aston did I just have fun with?
Discussion
Sadly not me driving; pulled behind me near Polzeath, Cornwall and we had a rather spirited drive for a mere two miles on a tight, twisty B road. Good driver and it ended with a friendly flash and a toot.
Now I'm usually a car geek supremo but I can't place this - looked brand new (with 51 plate but I guess it was private?!), black, about 1" silver painted grille surround, LED DRLs so must be pretty recent. A bit big for a Vantage but didn't look long enough for the Virage. Wrong grille for a Vanquish I think but not certain.
Anyway, good driving, nice to see another enthusiast - in a drop dead gorgeous car worth multiples of my wee shopping hatch.

The clue would seem to be your description of the, '1" silver painted grille surround'.
As Gettoff has stated, there are two models.
This might be a way to tell which one followed you.
If the driver stayed in second gear, then Vantage V8 N430, whereas if the car remained in first gear, it would be a Vantage V12S (top speed 205 mph). ->

Should you be interested, I don't think DRLs are a requirement yet for the Vantage, because introduction was 2005. The sidelights may have been switched on.
Glad you enjoyed seeing the car.
