After being informed that the paint on modern Aston's is very soft (probably no different to any other modern car in reality) I was considering getting some protective film applied.

I have contact PaintSheild of Peterborough and they are looking for £2,000 for the full works, is that about right, any comments greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

p.s.
15 hours to go smile

Your right the paint is very soft but I don't agree about all cars.
Not sure I would do all the car but I only had the front done and I'm still very happy with it a year on.

Seems about right . Mine cost me a bit more than that but I had the whole bonnet done. Well worth it..

V12S collect it tomorrow morning!

Yeh that price is for the whole bonnet including the vents wing mirrors and sills etc.

I was choking a bit at the price but if that's what it takes to get the job done properly money well spent!

Thoroughly recommend the Paintshield and it is self healing film too. Had it put on mine from new.

I also recommend that you get Francis (Paddy in this forum) or another detailer to check the paintwork as it can be pretty dire straight from the factory and you don't want to put film on top of paint with swirl marks and maybe even polishing marks. The difference when he has finished is amazing.

Cheers for the advice, I agree I have Barr from AutoDetox coming to sort that bit out smile

My big problem will be avoiding any stone chips before the film is applied, doh!

Price is about right for Paintshield, depending on what you mean by "the works".

Dad's Virage was covered using a similar product, applied by a local guy.
Front bumper, sideskirts (cut to match the panel lines), wing mirrors and a piece each side front of the rear arches.
This cost around £1k, IIRC.

I would assume "the works" to mean a bit more than Dad had applied smile

Definitely worth doing, IMO, especially if you will keep the car for a while. When/if you come to sell it, the paint will be nicely protected.
Current water based paints seem to chip far easier than the older paints frown

You don't want any other film on your car other than what paintshield use. It has the most clarity, least Orange peel and the stuff they are using now is even more advanced than the excel ultra, so it's even thinner too. If any film is applied to the car,you have to make sure it's self healing, just to save you hassle in the long term.
