But I think this may be one of the better ones... My first Aston.

A week ago I was looking at 997 C2S on autotrader, a week before that was "Granturismo week"... Today I agreed a deal on a V8 vantage!

A 4.3 for the bottom end of 4.7 money but I really don't care as this one feels really special to me. 2008, 15k miles, great spec and full proteam kit consisting of exhaust tweaks and switch, power upgrade, suspension upgrade and switch, carbon aero pack and lightweight wheels. Supplied my Nicholas mee who have been superb so far.

I now have to endure almost a week while it goes through the workshop and have some minor bits touched up. I'm not sure how to juggle my finances, but I will find a way... Some photos below, but I was too excited to take proper ones so apologies in advance! smile

Good work.

Quite rare to find one with the Prodrive bits on, I'm sure Nick Mee will do a good job on the prep.
Happy collection day smile.

Thanks guys. I can't explain how excited I am, but most of you probably know.

I own a couple of ducatis and like having "Special" things that are not run-of-the-mill if you know what I mean? Aston seems to fit that brief nicely smile

3 weeks! The wait must have killed you. You will enjoy it as much as you have hoped. Congratulations and enjoy.

Enjoy! Special day, and the sun is out biggrin

Say hi to my car if it's in there, and the chaps at Nick Mee.

Steve,

The photos show a beautiful condition car. I like the alternative wheels too.

You are sure to enjoy your first Aston Martin day today.

I can remember being very cautious on that collection drive, not wanting to damage anything. It did not take too long for me to become confident with everything, and I can now 'chuck it'.

Please tell us about your first day.

If you see people waving, they may not be people you know. It is just admiration for everything Aston Martin.

Happiness.

Jon.

Well, I'm back from a bit of a drive out. Couldn't go too far as I have errands to run today and places to be. Hopefully I will get out properly tomorrow. Apart from already managing to slightly scuff an alloy parking (I'm so annoyed with myself!!) I'm very happy!

Nicholas Mee have been excellent (I've been dealing with Neal). There were a couple of delays beyond their control but the car has been well prepped and looks great. Bear in mind I bought it the day after they took it in, and there was zero preparation done at that point so it's not like it took them 3 weeks to hand over a showroom condition car. Small touches like supplying an original prodrive book shows the level of service I received. I will definitely be recommending them and keeping in touch.

Initial thoughts:

It looks incredible

It sounds amazing, even before the valve opens. The wife is actually scared of the bark at 4.5k rpm!!

It's quick! I have bikes and had a 911 for a while but this feels rapid

Satnav screen sits at a daft angle, pointing down a little. Maybe it can be adjusted so I will see

Premium audio is good, definitely pleased I got that

Seems like a sedate country road run gets l20s mpg so I think a motorway run would be at least reasonable on fuel

I'm struggling to set the seats up and they are hurting my lower back. I think it's partly due to the clutch being heavy and so I'm not quite comfortable in the cabin yet

First and second are stiff, but I'm getting used to it. Seems like there is a knack to it.

Nice pub lunch then parked up at home. Street parking will shreds the alloys I'm sure frown
