What's this all about?
Discussion
Bought my V12V last May from a dealer. The car had done 1800 miles and had had a service pre pick up. They are now chasing me for the next service at a quoted cost of £1200 plus VAT!
The same group that owns Ferrari and AM has offered to do my 16M and 550 Barchetta for a total of £1450 including VAT. How does this work? Is this why AM are in trouble? Is this a challenge to customer service loyalty?
When a 911 Turbo it's service is 20,000 miles or two years I think AM needs to think about that for survival.

Phone around had mine done for £900 including VAT. at main dealer. The same group that owns Ferrari and AM has offered to do my 16M and 550 Barchetta for a total of £1450 including VAT. How does this work? Is this why AM are in trouble? Is this a challenge to customer service loyalty?

I think the service intervals are 10k / 1 year, I suspect the next gen will have longer intervals? I am sure you can work on that price, the other alternative is to do more miles so the service cost is a bargain vs. the fuel you'll be using

Is that right a 10000 service interval? If that is correct I will have to shout very hard at the dealer who is chasing me very hard. Sounds like I need to wise up!
The one year service interval is annoying for those covering very low mileages.
I cannot imagine that modern oil stops working, after 18 months, 3,000 miles and no short journeys.
What do you experts think?
The service reminder appears on the dashboard after about 16 months.
Anyone with a keeper, can use common sense about servicing, but probably best to stick to the rules otherwise.

If it's the same as the V8V then it's 10,000 or 1 year. You said you got the car in May 2013 and now it's April 2014. I fail to see what the dealer has done wrong - you're car is due to be serviced.
I think it is the thought that I had done about 750 miles in 10 months and they are chasing fir a big costly service. When compared to other high performance cars the interval on time and mileage is poor (vs Porsche) or costly (vs Ferrari). FalconWood said:

But all cars are the same, i.e. either miles or time, whichever comes first.
My new GTR is 6,000 miles or 6 months, which does seem excessive for a 3 year old car.
Yes but a Porsche is 20000 or two years!!!! Ands that's a turbo! My new GTR is 6,000 miles or 6 months, which does seem excessive for a 3 year old car.

Apart from the GT3 fire issue then the later DFi and, so far, 991 engines in the Porsche's seem to be ok.
Older 996 engines, well they are not the strongest but there are not exactly Porsches lying at the side of the road!
Dont worry, i still have Porsche DNA in me so will defend them until the Vantage gets picked up from AMW on Weds!

Why don't you think of it another way - you have an Aston V12 that needs servicing, which is a good problem to have when you think about it. Worthy of Pistonheaders and Their First World Problems in the Lounge I would say.

TVR were 1 year or 10k which ever came first.
BMW work on use so as my Dayly it's 18 months on average.
Well I thought that with my Z4 but there is a small print that says it needs an oil change service every 2 years no matter what the service indicator says. Needless to say I didn't discover this for a month or two after the oil needed changingBMW work on use so as my Dayly it's 18 months on average.
I know my Z4 is getting on but even in those days I don't think it would have been beyond expertise to build in a two year oil warning into the service indicator : rolleyes:
Modern BMW's the same?
