2008 Aston Martin Vantage U.S . The roof will not go down. It is currently in a closed position There are two warning lights on the dash "Roof Movement Paused" and "Roof Failure Detected" This is what I have done so far; I reset the windows, I disconnected the battery for several minutes and drove the car. The dealer is 90 miles away each way. Im trying to solve the problem and save the trip. Any suggestions? Should I manually put the top down? Hopefully it will re-sync? Thanks!

leave it in closed position and if it is locked down drive it
book it into the dealer fro repair
call your bank
mine failed last year in similar fashion on my DB9 Vol, underground car park at heathrow.
it was one of roof motors on the US drivers side of the car that failed.
the motor sits in a housing on the inside of the interior rear wheel arch
in a masterpeice of design the housing has no drain holes in it
water collects in the housing and while the car is not driven/stored over winter, corrosion occurs
when you use your roof again next Spring it seizes..
its a 2-4 hour job, depending upon skill of mechanic, to access and replace the motor on one side, most of the rear seat needs to come out, access is difficult and refitting the motor and roof quite tiresome
from memory the new roof motor was around $300 + labour
ask them to drill a couple of holes into the housing when fitting the new motor so that in future any water will run away

That has happened a couple of times
But more frequent is an errant roof control or door module (later prevents window dropping which prevents roof moving)
Is the battery good?

As you have recently had a dead battery I'd have a look at the roof module
Not got the info to hand but IIRC unplugging it for 15-20 mins can reset it, if its not fried

After jump starting my car a few times (frequent dead batteries due to lack of use) I often get the tonneau to lift and then the emergency BLEEP BLEEP and roof failure warnings. It's then stuck.

Car always resets itself after a few cycles of switching on and off - I have even stopped calling Adrian at BR at funny times of the day as I know it sorts itself laugh

Other options as Mikey said can be the dreaded roof module or as with Woolders car currently, perhaps the roof latch module. He might be able to update you as to the symptoms when he stumbles out of his gentlemen's club in the early hours...
