The most frustrating aspect of owning the vantage is the sticking fuel filler cap. I'm sick of driving 150miles round trip to get it sorted and the fix lasts just a few weeks. Have searched the forum but can't find a definitive answer to sort it out, before you say TADTS can anyone help please ?

When you say 'sticking', what do you mean exactly?

On my car, it was found the solenoid was faulty, meaning that the whole wiring assembly needed to be replaced (not cheap!)

The mechanism is working fine thanks, slightly embarrassing as I need to get someone to press the release button while I press the cap down

When I was having the accelerator pedal recall done the service guy mentioned another fix for the petrol cap.. We didn't go into much detail over what it was other than he said the parts were barely ever available but it might be the same thing and if so worth pushing for and for them to get the right parts in.

Hi

Had the same problem. The cap kept moving a little and therefore pressing the button didn't retract the nodule thing that stops the cap popping up. I had to use the emergency release in the boot whilst prising the cap up with a teaspoon. Very classy! Anyway the dealer fixed by reseating the filler cap.

I had this not long before I sold mine. After getting it open, spray it with WD40 and keep pushing the release thing several times. Let it soak then repeat a few times. After a few times it sorted mine.

This may sound daft but I have filled up twice since I got the car and I have trouble just getting the cap to lock ? The flap is ok but. Is there some special technique with the cap ? Some one told me it needs to click 3 times but I line it up press turn but never seems to lock I can just lift it straight out ? After half a dozen attempts people look at you like you stole it .

Don't press it in. Just turn it gently (until it starts clicking).
