Glass Switches
Discussion
Hi All,
Sure this has been covered before so apologies up front.
I'm keen to replace the switches in my 09 V8VR for the newer glass jobbies. I live 5 miles from the Aston Works in Newport Pagnell, so I can just go and pick them up which is handy. However, I'm not keening on paying a fortune to fit them, so the question is, can they be fitted by ourselves, and is there anyone out there who's actually done it ?
Thanks all.

Those kinds of questions are really hard to answer because everyone's perception of skill level is so different. I find replacing the switches to be an incredibly trivial job to do, yet I see other people talk about doing even simpler tasks as if they had to scale a mountain. So how skilled are you? As I like to say "it's not rocket surgery". Sure this has been covered before so apologies up front.

Karl is correct, however, this is a REALLY easy job so would not hesitate in advising to DIY.I'm reasonably handy, replaced the grille today and will be replacing the rears for clear in a couple of months.
I can't rebuild an engine or rewire a house though
Seriously, I work in IT and can strip servers etc etc no bother, so I'm sure I could do the switches (assuming it's a straight swap).
My bigger issue is how to get the existing ones out without damaging the dash/surround.
Cheers

Big Ry (can I call you Big!)...the switches just push out, so easy . Getting the dash out is also easy (well documented on other threads here - do a search).I can't rebuild an engine or rewire a house though

It seems really easy, although I've tried a few times and pulled at the ski slope with my supernatural strength and it doesn't budge.

Has anyone got the sportshift glass button part numbers as I now have access to AM without the dealers taking their share?
Here we go.......S RAD33-14B626-DA SPORTS MODE GLASS
S RBG33-7A217-BA NEUTRAL MODE GLASS
S RBG33-7J175-BA REVERSE MODE GLASS 1
S RBG33-7Z156-BA DRIVE MODE GLASS
As a dealer technician once said to me.
" I don't know what is the worst here, owners who fiddle with their cars or owners who don't touch them at all"
That statement was in reference to me.
To the OP, personally I wouldn't have clue but I admire your ability and wish you success in your challenge
