Seat belt shoulder loops - any fix - warranty?

As appears to happen to most, the leather loops on the top of the seat that guide the seat belts across the seat are failing due to the rubbish magnetic poppers..

This is on an '07 V8V.

Car is in for a service and I've asked this to be brought up under warranty.
However, the warranty man told the service dept. (main dealer) that it meant changing the whole seat cover, so was not covered under warranty (?)..

Has anyone managed to get this fixed under warranty?

Alternatively, has anyone sorted a fix for it, other than epoxy?
