All

Had my v8 for 3 years now and looking to change, have been looking at a new v8 so I spec it etc but can't help wondering about a second hand v12. There are some nice cars on ph with low mileage and about the same or less money than a new v8. I'm certainly no boy racer but can anyone who has owned both share an opinion. Am going to test drive both next week as curiosity has got the better of me

Thanks

For that sort of money, i'd be after a V12 Vantage Roadster.....101 built, that's a future classic all day long.

I have had both the 4.3 and 4.7 V8V's and my current V12. I loved the 4.7 in particular but it does not compare with the V12 which is just awesome. I think driving them both back to back is a great idea but suspect I know which one you will want to buy! yes

Let us know what you decide.

I've had both, 4.3 and V12. 4.3 is a nice sports coupe, V12 is a missile

Our V8V was fantastic but the V12V is just more of everything. If you have the choice you must get the V12V. I don't think ours will be our forever car, but we are so delighted to have it in our lives right now. What a great position for you to be in - a happy dilemma. Enjoy choosing....

Oooh, let me think... 12 cylinders or 8? That's a toughie! One piece of advice.......unless you're serious about buying one, don't drive it.

I'd say the answer is pretty clear cut. Good friend of mine on here went from V8 to V12, and like every one else that has done it, was extremely happy with the outcome. Sadly (for us) he's looking to sell the V12 for non motoring reasons but I'm sure he'll be back. The car, callsign Sparkly, is stunning and those that know the owner will agree with me that it gets seriously well looked after. If you're serious about changing OP, it would be very well worth you while taking a look at it. It's for sale here:

Good luck with the search, drive one then get it bought! wavey

+1 'Sparkly' is a stunning car.

I had my V12V for three years and did 16k fantastic miles in it with a grin ear to ear - they are an awesome bit of kit and Sparkly is about as good as they get yes

If that is *the* sparkly I can confirm it is indeed a beautiful car. The paint is just spectacular and you'll be hard pressed to find a better cared for motor.

Had and adored my 4.7 V8. The V12 is so much better though.

Both are brilliant, I'd normally say don't drive the V12 if the V8 is your budget but as it stands, try them both.

I have owned my 4.7 V8V for 3 months and last week went to the factory and offered a drive in a V12 Vantage S. I am so pleased I didn't try this before I bought my V8. I would waited another 2 years to get the V12. The sound and experience is another level beyond the V8 but I'm very happy as a newbie to serve my apprenticeship on the V8 for a few years before moving up.

I moved from a 4.3 V8 to a V12V six months ago. The V12V is such a great car. It's no surprise you found the temptation too hard to resist. You won't regret it......enjoy!

What's peoples thoughts on where the V12VR will bottom out at money wise ?

With only 101 globally I suspect they're going to be future classic.....one for the 50 year garage me thinks. Wayne Corini (well his grandson) from Chasing Classic Cars will be wheeling one out of my garage in 75 years commenting on 'what an amazing find' rofl
