So because I'm old, (now 55) and a grandfather and liable to wee my pants, my insurance premium for my DB9 this year is £326.80 including protected no claims from Admiral, can anybody beat that ?

For fks sake. You have an expensive car and you're tight enough to try saving on a £300 odd insurance bill. Do you want them to give it you for free and come clean your house, walk your dog and mow your lawn.

Honestly!!!!!!!!

I think he means "It's £326 - can anyone beat that ?", as in "look how low it is, is anyone paying less than me ?"

I was paying £277 for my V8V and I'm not yet peeing my pants.

Admiral sent me my renewal, I phoned them and said is that the best they can do, they knocked off £120 just for asking so bought it down to £750. (I'm 34).

I was surprised at Admirals prices this time round.

We had to move SWMBO's car to a multicar policy as our 3rd Son has started driving (wanted 5 drivers on 1 car).
I asked as an aside "how much to add a V8 Vantage?".

Came out as £220.

Not a grandad, but am over 50 and no points, but did have a claim in 2011.
Service has been fine from Admiral, so far.

Michael, does the Admiral policy allow you to take your Aston to a repair garage of your choice i.e. An Approved or Indie specialist ?

It sure does.......I've just done this with Chiltern Aston.

Of course they try to steer you towards their network, but they were quite open in saying it's your choice where you want to take it.

The only thing I won't get is a courtesy car (I could have one from Chiltern).....but I don't need one anyway.

Another question for those with Admiral or similar companies.
Do you have an " agreed value " for the Aston ?
I am with Locktons and pay £620, I pay that price mainly because it is an agreed value for the Aston and I can take it to my garage of choice.
However if the cheaper companies can give you the same deal without a fight or aggro I will think again.
Thanks

I'm with Privilege, £560 fully comp.
Go to the main compare sites, GoComp, confused etc. Get a quote and beat your insurance company round the head with it. They give bigger discounts to new business than to existing customers. I did this because the best they could do was higher then a quote from those sites with my own insurance company!! I gave them the quote reference and they matched it.
What a palava!!

When I was insured with Admiral they only gave market value, so in effect a Glass's Guide valuation, which of course bears no relation to what you would need to actually pay to buy the same car on a forecourt. I didn't mind at the time as I had GAP insurance to cover the shortfall between the pay out and the invoice value.

As I had the 2007 V8V at the time I went with Locktons as they offered track day cover, European breakdown cover (the JLC trip was looming) and an agreed value. They almost encourage you to go to Works Service for repairs smile

market value is not the same as trade value ........golden rule is never to accept the insurance companies first offer...pal of mine was recently offered £8500 on his old Boxster ...he eventually settled on £13200

Exactly! But when you question the person on the line at Admiral what they mean by market value, they say the value of the car to the trade, not forecourt price. The very reason I left to go elsewhere. They pay out nothing like what you would have to pay to replace like with like, even if you haggle.
