Just been told by a dealer that a colour, ie Volcano would be less desirable and thus worth less if they were buying it back in.
I'm seeing more and more colours on the web sites, can that be true.?
On thread views would be helpful ( for a change) as I'm about to buy

Just wait until trade-in:

grey car - "grey cars are ten-a-penny, so worth less, I'm afraid, Sir."

non-grey car - "I hate to say it, Sir, but buyers want grey cars, so yours is worth less."

^^^^^ yes

Buy what colour you like, they are all worth the same. Just some colours are easier to sell as many buyers consider re-sale as part of the buying process and assume grey and black sell easier.

That said, I know a Volcano red V8VS that was new in the showroom of a dealer and did not sell in a year. It is now registered to the dealer as a demonstrator and will then be sold as a used car.

Ok so a purely personal view point on colours ..... ( yes I have a grey one!)

Astons are generally under stated. In my view there are many colours that fit this bill, not just grey or black. If it looks right I cant see the problem. Pearlescent orange - might look nice but is probably an acquired taste and might limit future market.

Interior wise probably similar. Black , grey , magnolia or any combi of. From a personal point of view Iron Ore or light blue are things I would not buy, but hey I have beige leather ( which no doubt has a fancy Aston name).

If you like it, someone else will

^^ This.

Ferrari do the same. 'Resale red' is only good when you're buying one, it's common as muck when you're selling back...

Endless Grey Astons are just a miserable cliche and that misery is compounded by Suicide black leather and can't-be-bothered autoboxes. Try something different smile

/I have a green manual one and am therefore a hero

As the Aston is subtle by design the blacks and greys suit the larger Astons .i.e. DB9 and Rapide etc.
The Vantage range, because of it's more compact size and " sportier " image can better carry off the more vibrant colours.
Obviously if one wants a particular colour that's one's choice, but they are normally more difficult to shift as one has to wait for that customer.
However the brighter colours can work very well as evidenced by Ed's red DB9.2.
Indeed I was very keen on a mako blue DBS,that some other sod bought whilst I was prevaricating.

As soon as they've sussed you out, dealers will generally tell you anything to get a sale.......that's what they do.

Bottom line is that it will be easier sell a grey Aston than an orange one.

I specced my V8S late last year. Tungsten and black. To me, boring? - no. Suicidal? - definitely not. Classic and timeless? - yes. Will it be easy to sell? - Don't care, no intention of selling it.

If you change your car a lot, the resale thing might be an issue. If not, just buy whatever you like.

Pop over to the Ferrari pages. Has to be Rosso and Crema for anything from a 308 to a 360. A Rosso and Crema Vantage would probably look horrible. It's a fact that grey 360's are worth less than Rosso 360s....vice versa for Aston you could say?

I think the interior colours are more sensitive than the outer. When I was looking at used there were some really dodgy interiors, especially the 2 tone ones, that seemed to hang around for ages. I can't say there were many exterior colours that put me off - maybe the powder blue colour (apologies to anyone with that).

Each to their own as ever, and some love the individual nature of things.

Sorry to disagree, but that is boring, yes.

It is of course your car to do as you wish with naturally, but confronted with a virtually infinitely variable range of external and interior colours, if you choose resale grey and suicide black, that is boring. That is not a matter of opinion, that is fact.

I bet it looks great though laugh

You can get away with anything in a DBS biggrin

None of these really do it for me.. but then I've black on black and really pushed the boat out when I picked Silver for the contrasting stitch

I have had a fair few people in my 3 weeks of ownership say "so nice to see one different than silver and grey".

It certainly turns heads and i thought i may not take too easy to it, but have to say im so glad i did.

yes

There is a Madagascar Orange V12V at Newport Pagnell that has been in stock for many months now. Most of this lot drooled over it but nobody bought it.

We have had Meteorite, Tungsten and now have Stratus White. Why do we have a white one? Because we were looking to replace our written-off V8S with a new one as quickly as possible hence our choice was from dealer stock vehicles only. It might not have been our first choice if speccing & ordering but I have to say we are very happy with it smile

Pick any of the 50 shades of grey if resale is going to worry you but don't expect any one to tell you what a fabulous colour you have. If its a keeper then pick the colour that will put the biggest smile on your face.

PS A point against silver/grey cars is that they can look like they've been camouflaged against the road colour so please drive with lights on!

That's a proper red colour... is it left hand drive or am I going mad?
