The black paint on the nearside door mirror where it fixes to the body is flaking again. I say again because I had a paint repair done through Bridge Mill last autumn and it needs doing again. There seems to be a couple of patches where the paint just doesn't adhere to the aluminium casting. The paint specialist says he can try a different etching base coat but if it happens again then I should consider powder coating. I guess I might have been better off biting the bullet and paying the £800+ and getting a replacement from Aston.

Just wondered whether anyone else here has had a similar problem and what route they took. BTW the car is no longer under warranty.

Thanks

Its an aluminium casting and corrodes very easily
I had them replaced under warranty on my last one
When they go on the new one I will wither powder coat them or paint them with something like POR15

Thanks, powder coating seems like a good option but not sure whether it will adhere to an unstable base material.
