I've got the a chance to buy a DB7 Vantage Manual, I don't know a lot about these cars apart from I like them.
Is there anything I should know?
Is the Manual frowned upon?
Would I be able to sell it again?
A V12 with a manual box seems a strange combination to me, I don't have a problem with it, I just don't want to be stranded with it when I need to cash out.
Any views would be very helpful.
Thanks
Mark

No problems at all.

Manuals are often more sought after in the right circles.

Mine has a different clutch to a std DB7 Manual, where I believe the std models single plate clutch is a little heavier and has less friction area but apart from that go for it.

Autocar road tested a vantage manual and they loved it. A very good car, but the normal db7 problems still exist

If I was ever to go back to a DB7, it would only be a manual version. The auto and Touchtronic systems are fairly dated now and only 5 speed. A lovely 6 speed manual box stirring a V12... heaven!

They are and will become more desirable as they are much rarer - won't be a pup to sell on. Once you're familiar with the fairly wafty handling, it's actually a car that can be driven very quickly point to point, the brakes on the DB7 Vantages are excellent.

But the DB7 issues still ecist (aircon, coils, general aging)

Just had a quick look around it, and looked at the history.
All Aston Martin, last serviced 500 miles and 12 months ago.
Good bridgestones all around,
Airbag light is on,
Rust on the rear arches bubbling but not through.
Didn't try the air con,
Clutch is heavy but sounds like that is normal,
Looks like its had a repair around the fuel cap,
And sounds blooming awesome!!!

Mark,

You have a PM. Agree with the above but good idea to get the bits above checked with an inspection. Well worth the money. Try Chiltern Aston or Nicholas Mee for good 7s. Softer set up on the road than the 9.

I have to agree with the earlier comment about the clutch on the DB7 Vantage manual seeming a little heavy at first. However, after relatively few miles you will come to recognise that it is all part of what makes the car so different to drive when compared with many other vehicles on the road. You may get lucky and find that the first car you view ticks all the boxes for you, nonetheless, I would suggest that it is always best to look at a number of these cars to make sure you are happy with the spec, colour combinations etc., then you should certainly consider investing in a Specialist's inspection of the car you select (unless you are a knowledgable mechanic).

Personally, I wouldn't be tempted to use the car as a daily driver, nonetheless, there are a good number who do and who say that they are very pleased with their cars performance when used in this way.

If you take the plunge and go for the V12 manual you will definitely end up with a lot of car for your cash, as the current prices offer tremendous value for money in my estimation, although, I accept that not everyone would agree with this point of view.
