Just after some opinions/experience of warranty claims from AM, when agreed to be an issue by a main dealer.

My 2007 V8V is currently with the dealer for service - actually been in and returned and now back in again to sort a couple of issues.

3 weeks ago, it went in for the service and I asked for the shocks to be looked at, as it's a bit crashy at the front and wallowy at the back.
The tech only checked the back and agreed there was an issue - AM chap came out and agreed to replace - all good.

This week, it went back to remediate a couple of things I found and also to check the front shocks and some bubbling on the lower/inside of the passenger door.
This time, the AM inspector said "The front shocks are not covered for replacement unless they fail an MOT which they would not do.".
So this time, they need to be dangerous to qualify for warranty replacement?

AM also said they will only pay £250 towards the £700-odd that the dealer would charge to fix the paint.

Am I alone in thinking this is unacceptable?

TIA - Simon

Normal - yes
Unacceptable - probably
Inconsistent - yes

But then I have a bit of a track record with AM and warranty wink

I don't see how it's reasonable to expect AM to pick up the tab for a paint issue on a 7 year old car.

Normally one would agree, but this is a recognised problem, but Aston will not automatically "put their hands up ".
Often if purchased from main dealer it is rectified by dealer as part of purchase deal,as was mine.
It is galling that when one plays the game as the OP one has hassle, which is why some of us ditch the expensive warranty and pray ( a lot ).

I think I probably expected a 'no we won't cover it' or 'we will cover it' regarding the paint.
Goodwill gestures admit liability in my book, I suppose.

The shock absorber; 'yes they are sub-optimal, so we will replace' and now 'they are not actually dangerous, as they will pass an MOT, so we won't' is more than disappointing..

Discussed on this forum many times,I believe that technically it is not actually corrosion but either poor prep or a chemical reaction.
Others on here will no doubt have more techy knowledge than I do.

I got ONE coil spring replaced under warranty last year. Try asking AM to replace one coil spring and see what they say!

I have a full warranty having bought my 2006 V8V about 9 months ago from a main dealer. It has developed an intermittent starting problem and I asked the local main dealer to book it in and effect a repair under warranty.

I was then told that if there was a faulty part this was probably covered by the warranty but diagnostics were not. Therefore I had to agree to cover their time for the diagnostics to find out what was wrong at £130 per hour.

I advised that this was not acceptable and asked them to just repair the fault without doing any diagnostics first. Unsurprisingly they said they can't repair the fault without diagnosing the fault first. !! Therefore are the diagnostics not part of the repair, or is it just me?

I have a service and warranty renewal due in 3 months time. It's not looking good for them to get an £800 service and a £1,500 warranty renewal out of me at the moment !!

That's not right.
When I take my car for a repair I usually sign an authorisation form for the garage to go ahead and start work. If the diagnosis reveals a fault that is covered by the warranty then there is no cost. If it is found to be a problem not covered by Warranty Then the aforementioned form I signed states that I will pay for the work. At this point the garage will call me and ask how I would like to proceed and explain the expected cost.
That seems standard to me.

Remember there are 3 levels of AM warranty - Premium, Plus and Classic. Cover decreases in that order. Also third parties have really upped their game in warranty cover so could be worth looking at?

I asked for warranty work to be checked when carrying out the service and the dealer did get some of it authorised.

When the car went back to them to fix things that were missed on the service (and messed up warranty work), they also looked into the remaining warranty items.

Interestingly, AM refused most of the rest of the warranty claims and after 3 weeks, I am still waiting to hear about a claim for 'clicking' wiper mechanisms.

I really suspect the dealer may not have actually spoken to AM warranty about them, but they are unable (or unwilling) to send me any proof/documentation covering the items. Based on my dealing with them so far, I suspect they may not have actually investigated/submitted anything.

Does anyone know if it possible to talk to AM direct to discuss claims made on my car?

Thanks!
