Hi Everyone!

This is my first post on the forum and have read many other threads on here and am extremely impressed with the knowledge and help provided in all of them!

I have recently become the new owner of an Aston Martin Vantage V8 (2008), and as you can see by the picture, its in a sorry state!

http://online-auction.s3.amazonaws.com/00220876_00...

This is a Cat C however has sustained VERY little damage mechanically (The crush bars havent even moved)

The accident was very odd, the car was hit in such a way the radiator and crush beam took the most damage everything else was just cosmetic, with only a little work to do on it!

We are determined to get this beauty back to its glory days as its something far too amazing to let rott away or be brought by someone who isn't going to do the job right!

http://online-auction.s3.amazonaws.com/00220876_00...

HOWEVER:

I have purchased the workshop manual for the car however I need the Parts Manual/Catalogue for the car.

Before I end up potentially paying £70 to download one PDF file i was hoping someone on the forum would have the manual and could hopefully send it over to me?

I'll be sure to keep you all updated with the progress of the restoration as this cars completely straight and simply needs a few new bits (namely, radiator, oil rad, steering rad etc) to be back to full strength!

I'm surprised the car was written off given the little damage it's had, No bends, twists of problems with the body/chassis at all....
Either way we will get this wonder back to full strength and lovingly care for it! (unlike the last owner!)

Thanks,
Curtis

I did the one day subscription to Aston Martin when I got my vantage and money well spent. I downloaded all the manuals and recalls for my particular car. HOWEVER, the parts manual is NOT a .pdf, it's some type of interactive file so you can't download it, at least I couldn't figure out how.

THis company has an exc. online parts fiche for all the AM cars and you can join for free.

So, to save you £70 you want someone else to break copyright law.

I think you're a brave man and I'm going to be following your progress with great interest. Best of luck Curtis.

You need to use a tool to grab their entire parts website and download a local copy to your computer. The links are all relative, so once you go to the root index.html on your local drive you can navigate the whole thing locally as if you were online. I'm sure they made it into a non-PDF partly to prevent most people for getting a copy to download and sell rather than paying their subscription fee.

With an unsecured file structure, that doesn't help at all.......laugh

You might have fun getting major body parts unless youre a registered AM repairer. Even I struggle to get some parts and I have an account with AMR.

The insignificant looking beam thats bent above the rad - or "shotgun panels" go all the way back to the bulkhead and are bonded and rivetted in. AM would not let me repair these and thats on a car not even road registered.

Youre going to need an upper subframe as well, plus the obvious bonnet, lights, wings, rad, condensor, pas rad, probably done the AC comp and PAS pump as well due to the soft engine mounts they hit the inside of the engine bay on big impacts. I'd estimate parts will be north of £6k if you can get them second hand, twice that at least if you can go AM.

Hopefully you also have access to a 2 poster ramp, easiest way to get the engine out is lift the body off.

I also will be watching the progress, this is quite a common repair on these apart from the shotgun panels most of it bolts on quite easily.

Build a "special" for fun with the salvageable bits? Done before, 70s Aston V8 in a Vauxhall Firenza. Sell the residue

You guys are brilliant. wink Not giving it away but its all under wraps now and safely stored at home rolleyes

The 'astonmartintechinfo.com/DocumentUplods' part of the site doesnt seem to have any PDF's like the WorkShop Manuals etc however i assume they are held under a secured part of the site?

I left my new best app to download everything relative to the link www.astonmartintechinfo.com but had to shut it off after it downloaded 4Gigabyts on the 2nd day of running! redface (I assume the PDF's were in there somewhere!

I've got it all now and i paid for a workshop manual, the parts manual is VERY helpful too.

The only part that will be tricky replacing on the car is the 'Shotgun Pannel'/The pannel infront of the engine. Our fabricator (I.E My uncle) will make us a new one from scratch or i'll grab one from a car thats breing broken.

Otherwise its a new slam pannel/beam on the front, Radiator, Oil Rad, PAS Rad, Side Wings, Bumper, Bonnet, Windscreen, Airbags, seatbelts, inner wheel fenders, top engine cover, inner air vents and a good bloody clean!

The above is all thats needed as far as inspection have gone however im ready for the lit to get bigger!

Indeed, it pisses me off even more when I see people on eBay selling the manuals. Right now there's a guy charging $50us to buy a link to download the workshop manual PDF. Those guys should be shut down. I paid for my manuals and frankly, they were a bargain. My Esprit manuals came in about 8-10 large binders and I paid well over $1500us for the entire collection.

I guess I get a bit peeved by folks who buy an Aston Martin and then are cheap about everything else. Frankly, it's a bit tacky.

i understand where youre coming from however the same applies to using a picture, price of audio and watching a movie without the creators permission, and im sure at some point in our lives we have all either watched a film without paying or streamed music without doing so too!

if i paid £80,000 on a car i would expect the manuals as standard and not to be charged through the rood for something that cost then near nothing to make! Either way copy infringement is bad (and wrong and illegal), but so is eating chocolate...! winkwink

also i understand its cheaping out but the purpose of this car is to bring it back to full beauty for as little as possible whilst doing it all properly.
