As some of you will be aware I scuffed my front splitter recently and had it replaced at Stratstone Derby for the princely sum of £3,186 which quite frankly was a bitter pill to swallow!!

So I kept the original which had an inch long chunk taken out of it courtesy of my crappy diving and a high curb in a multi-storey car park, which I subsequently took to a carbon repair specialist in Daventry where a very nice young man called Brett undertook a localised repair for me at a reasonable price of £300 + VAT.

Now if I had known how good this was going to turn out I would have not bothered with the replacement!! Ok you can see the join when looking close but when on the car you simply would not be able to tell, the whole thing has been lacquered and looks as good as new smile Incidentally if the splitter had needed a complete reskin it would of been around £800 + VAT still a significant saving over a new item!

I was also aware of the interest on the forum with regards a group buy and carbon parts from a chinese supplier and whilst I was chatting to Brett he said he could make brand new parts quite easily and the mold required to replicate the lower front spoiler on the V12VS would cost somewhere in the region of £1,500 (plus you would need the original part) which surprised me, I thought it would be a lot more so there could be some scope for having carbon parts made from scratch lets face it 10 people wanting the same part would equal a massive saving on the equivalent AM original part. Brett was also keen to point out that his carbon and the finish there of is typically of a much higher standard than would expect from China.

To clarify the mold would cost roughly one and a half times the cost of making the actual part, Brett said he could manufacturer the lower front lip splitter for around £1,000 + VAT.
I wanted to wait and see the quality of the work on my own part first before passing on the info, to my untrained eyes it looks superb. I have no affiliation with Brett or his company and have just had this single repair carried out so thought I could simply save somebody else an eye watering bill smile

Not sure on the forum rules for this type of post, so I won't post a Url to his website but I'm sure if you Google "Carbon Repair Daventry" you would probably find what you're looking for, alternatively drop me a pm smile

You might find this thread interesting, I did the same last year, although I replaced too.

I still have the broken one, I will consider repairing it I break it again.

Mine wasn't a complete mash-up like yours, good effort old bean!

Service guy at Derby appeared to be genuinely embarrassed when he told me the price, I knew it wouldn't be cheap I was estimating around £2,000, Brett said he could make them for around £1,000 + VAT each so I guess that shows you knid of markup on these bits! Having said that £3,000 was including VAT so there's £600 to start with, so at £2400 I guess they are upping by 100% which isn't that bad I suppose we all gotta eat!

Yes, it was a pretty good effort, eh?!

You would never have believed what did it, I have just dug out the other thread which shows in detail:

Don't tell me you were drooling over the gt3 ironing board on the other Andys car at the weekend!?

Seems to be an interesting opportunity though.. Interior carbon bits were also popular on the group buy which I think collapsed
