When I got it I was a bit concerned as a Rapide is a very big car...the word 'nimble' seemed to be a thing of my past in getting this chunky beauty. And she is so truly beautiful... I park it next to my old 911 and, head on, I think the Porsche's eyes droop even sadder :-(. To humble such a car is quite an achievement. I wont even mention a magnificent exhaust note that gives me absolute goosepbumps rather than a tinny rattle...

So I hustled it North to South Wales and back this weekend on my favorite roads (sans famile et chien) and it was such a joyous experience. The steering's pin point accuracy (without being twitchy) is astonishing. The way it corners so flat but remains supple and not crashy is remarkable. The way it brakes super hard without diving is so confidence inspiring. And the way it calmly corners 'full stop' is 15 mph per corner faster than all my other fast cars on the same journey! Remarkable! I absolutely truly love it. It was so laughing at me in dabbing the brakes for so many corners that I think the journey has only really started - this car is an absolute pinnacle of beauty, craft, design and engineering.

I am a lucky boy indeed :-)

Agree. I can feel the joy. Great to have another rapide driver on the forum.

I always grab the keys to a Rapide wheever I can. Most cars with four doors do everything averagely, but in my book, the Rapide excels in so many departments. Knocking one round the bowl touching 140mph and chucking one about the Alpine circuit at Millbrook - then coming to rest, looking back and thinking, did I just lug that lot around this place??? Really!! Brilliant - love it.

>edit to change to new handle<

Thanks guys smile

It was serviced 3000 miles ago but as it didnt do many miles since with the previous owner it seems I will have to service it in a few months to maintain the warranty as 12 months will have passed. This feels like a bit of a nonsense as the oil is beautifully yellow and clean on the dip-stick and the same high tech synthetic oil lasts 17,000 in my dirty day to day twin turbo oil burner that has variable service intervals. Seems expensive and wasteful to bin it, but bin it I'll have to.
