God of Thunder returns home
Discussion
My previous thread detailed the incident that left me gutted... http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
So after over 2 months everything is now sorted and I drove the car home yesterday. I have to say that Admiral Insurance were really very good. The third party's insurer accepted full liability which helped smooth the passage. Admiral initially questioned Aston Martin Works quote for the repair and insisted on an assessor checking the car. He took one look and said no problem. The only sticking point then was the transportation costs to AMW and back. So to make life easier and get the job done where I wanted I agreed to deliver and collect.
So a nice trip down to AMW 4 weeks ago where I had a tour of the workshops and a test drive in their Madagascar Orange manual V12V.....tempting as I personally love the colour but would be back with problem of only 2 seats. Picked up my loan car which was delivered there to meet me. I was expecting a Porker 911 but got a CL63 AMG V8 biturbo. Not a car I would choose for the looks. Comfortable seats though and my OH loved the seat massager!
Repair duly done and the car was then transported to PaintShield after paint had had 10 days to cure. Transport at insurers cost agreed. Paddy then worked on it for 2 days to get it ready for the PPF to be reapplied. He also did the whole car. The costs for detailing the repainted area and reapplying the PPF were covered by the insurer. I had Paddy apply Gtechniq Crystal Serum to the areas not having film applied. Once again a stirling job by both Paddy and PainShield. There were a couple of minor issues with the repaired area paint finish that Paddy sorted.
Took train down yesterday to pick the car up. It looked fantastic. Great getting back behind the wheel and smiling once again. The only downer was some heavy rain through Yorkshire that meant the car wasn't quite as pristine as when I set off. I had hoped not to have to think of cleaning it for a bit longer having just topped up Paddy's cake funds!
So thanks to Admiral for a generally smooth insurance claim process. Thanks to Simon and the crew at AMW; Ann, Tom and the crew at PaintShield and of course to Paddy for restoring Thor to his former glory. I can recommend all for their relative services. Looking forward to some sunny days
A few pics I took on collection.

That's a standard vinyl wrap color. Are you sure it wasn't wrapped?
I asked the same question but was told it's not a wrap!W1111AM said:
What is the coating, what did you have done? ( I am about to book in with Paddy and Paintshield too Gytek coating then self heal clear wrap)
The coating is Gtechniq crystal serum. Only on areas not covered by PPF. Paddy had a thread on here about it recently. Supposedly the dogs b
ksThe original film was Xpel Ultimate self healing although the areas redone are now Suntek Selfhealing which is newer and better.
