Why would you do that?

Why would you buy a wonderful drivers car like a V12V, not drive it, then sell it after 3.5 years? https://used.astonmartin.com/en-GB/Search/Details~...
Sorry if it is someone on here. I can see that it may have been bought as an investment but, if so, then it was the wrong car (coupe) and sold rather too soon.
Does anyone on here have experience of buying a car with such low mileage? I would worry that all the seals would start to fail and it would rattle and squeak from everywhere once you actually start using it as intended.

I bought my V8V, three years old with 2000 miles on it, no problems at all, since then I have put 34000 more miles on it, including a few track days, still no real problems, these cars are tough. buying used with such low mileage means getting a new(ish) car with the benefit of massive depreciation making it more affordable Sorry if it is someone on here. Lots of reasons. For instance I have a V12V (2012) with less than 3k miles on it. It's just one car in the fleet so only gets used when I want to drive something a bit more edgy then the others - the V12V is not even the most powerful!. Would I sell - probably not at the moment but maybe if I wanted to buy something more desirable to me and needed the garage space then yes...absolutely.Sorry if it is someone on here. I don't really see the car as an investment not see any problem with the mileage.

Can't understand it either. I bought a 09 plate V8 4.7L about 15 months ago that had 8,000 miles on it. I have already put as many miles on it as the previous owner and I have been working away from home a lot so don't get to use it as much as i'd like.
Cars are there to be driven - just like toys are to be played with. I take the James May approach to things like this:

I've judged Ferraris from the 1970s in some of my car shows with less than 2500 miles on them. Pretty sad really. I would say they are the worst when it comes to not actually driving their cars. They are so paranoid about putting mileage on the car and impacting the resale value that they never get to enjoy it. Why bother?

Ive covered about 30000 in my restored DB5 in 2 years. Yes it's now got a few stone chips in the front, but what fun I've had....
Now that deserves serious respect. Some would say you're mad but you've had a lot more fun that way than just looking at it through the window of an air conditioned garage.Beautiful car BTW

I must admit 800 miles is a tad low but not unheard off.
I didn't do many miles in my M3 or my V8 and I doubt I'll do more than 3000 per year in the V12.
Their not garage queens by any means it's just work that dictates this.
Working offshore I'm only home 6 months of the year and if the weathers to bad I won't use it. Same in the winter if it's to bad. I'll just take the trusty Landy instead if I need to pop out anywhere.
My cars always get what they need regardless. Serviced when required even if I've only done minimal miles that year.
So as long as it's been properly maintained then someone's going to get a cracking car with all the depreciation taken care of.

Have had my V12V for 2.5 years and have 8700 miles on it. Seems low to me, but it's not a daily. Also don't see the car as an investment. cayman-black said:
V8V Pete if you like carbons car whats wrong with this 800 mile one then?
As you said earlier it's priced at 2012MY money and however low the mileage is that's too high. Also don't think I'm quite ready to change yet but with only 2 RHD ones on the AM pre-owned site my plan may have to be brought forward a bit.Gassing Station | Aston Martin | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
