2007 Vantage HandbrakeAdjustment
Discussion
Hi -
My parking brake light does not turn off regardless of whether the handbrake is enabled or not. I can see that the silver striker piece does not go down far enough to turn off the brake light warning indicator. I want to adjust the handbrake but not sure which one is the adjuster. I can see a big nut but it doesn't look like an adjuster nut. I have attached a picture. Can anyone tell me if A or B in the picture is the handbrake adjuster? Thank you.

The handbrake control lever is located on the outside of the drivers seat. A handbrake switch is wired normally closed. The switch is held open whilst the handbrake is ‘off’ and closes when the handbrake is applied. The handbrake warning lamp on the instrument panel is illuminated when the handbrake is applied.
If the lever goes all the way down, you might find the switch is faulty.
Cable adjustment procedure:
1. Ensure handbrake is fully released.
2. Raise vehicle on ramp.
3. Check condition of handbrake cable.
4. Release handbrake cable adjustment (both sides).
5. Adjust cable equally at each Caliper to achieve 4 clicks at lever.
6. Check handbrake is not binding.
7. Lower vehicle on ramp.
8. Ensure warning light is off when handbrake lever is released.
9. Ensure for correct operation of handbrake.

Hi Dive-
Can you tell me where the adjustment nut is located? I can't seem to find it. Thanks.

If the H/B cable is any thing like that on a DB9 follow previous instructions re lifting the car. Follow H/B cable back from the calliper. You should find a hex nut and lock nut (about 11-13 mm across)most likely in brass, clean the road dirt off. Probably "B" in your pic. Two open ended spanners will be needed to undo. Once undone you will probably need to hold the outer cable with another open ended spanner (look for a small hex on the metal end) while slacking off the appropriate adjusting nut. when happy with result lock back up. Can you tell me where the adjustment nut is located? I can't seem to find it. Thanks.

If routine servicing has been thorough the above will not be a problem, if not it can be a real pain. Something like Plus Gas could be your friend.
I wanted to provide an update to this thread. I was able to adjust the parking brake properly so that the brake warning light goes away when handbrake is released. Hopefully - this may help other in the future with this similar issue. Thanks to all for pointing in the right direction.
A special thank to DB531 for providing the exact information I needed to fix this issue. I did not even have to jack the car up. The adjustment was made with the sitting firmly on the gound.
