Hey guys.
Is there anyway to fit some sort of device that will read a hard drive of music? ie play my MP3's? I'm getting a little tired of swapping cd's in the car. I want to upgrade so i can just plug and play like in the modern cars.
Not really fancying the radio tuner option, i would like something hard wired.
Has anyone fitted anything to allow this?
The car is 05 plate.
Cheers guys

About £450 fitted. (Not the £600 that a certain AM 'specialist' likes to charge).
If you combine it with one of these: http://www.viseeo.com/ugC_ShowroomItem_Detail.asp?... you can get bluetooth streaming as well.

Hi Alan,
This is the thing I was telling you about at Burghley, but couldn't remember the name...
Check out Karl-Franz's original thread here:
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=101...
It's got lots of detail on how it connects and works.
Dennison also do a Bluetooth adaptor.
FWIW, BT might not be as high quality as a hard-wired iPod / USB since I believe many implementations of BT audio streaming (A2DP) only implement the mandatory (poor quality) compression (worse than modern MP3s) - anything better is optional. It's essential (but hard) to find out exactly what both ends of the link support to determine the likely BT quality.
Colin.

To add to that... I believe some newer hands-free kits also support A2DP as well as HFP (hands-free profile). So worth checking you can't already do it with existing kit, as the connectivity from BT into the audio system is already there.
(see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Bluetooth_pro... for what I'm rabbitting on about)
The earlier AM HF kit which I have got in my Vantage definitely doesn't do A2DP.
Also, pretty sure the tracker (which has a separate BT device in the car) uses the DUN (dial-up-networking) profile to check for the presence of a known device. My wife's old phone paired OK with the tracker, but doesn't disable it on engine startup! Reason, no DUN support on phone, I discovered.
