Trackday Insurance
Discussion
I'm off to Italy in a week or so and have a trackday booked in at Imola
Does anyone have any ideas on trackday insurance ?
My Locktons policy covers UK trackdays and I think, amoc and/or official aston trackdays in Europe (I can't quite get to the bottom of exactly what as I think there is an element of discretion) but none of that is particularly relevant to my query as it definitely doesn't cover my non- Aston/AMOC trackday at Imola
The trackday I'm going on is organised by Curbstone so it's run very professionally and has very few cars on track - I believe it will be around 25 or so. My problem appears to be that trackday insurance is much more influenced by car value than regular insurance, I guess because it only actually covers damage to your own car (for those that don't know, you can't as a rule of thumb be sued by another driver for damage to their car/them on a trackday)
So in addition to the usual ridiculous excess of many £1,000s, the cheapest I've so far been quoted is £1,700 based on a car value of £135k.
You don't have to take out insurance of course but I can't afford to write the car off and just pass it off as one of those things !
What do other people do about this and does anyone have any ideas for cheaper insurance ?
