Fitted some TRW ( OEM Supplier for various makes ) front pads. Gotta love performance braking setups, takes about 5 minutes to change the pads once the wheel is off.

Total cost was something like £40 if I remember correctly hehe

Oh and my rear parking sensor was acting up, just a generic parking sensor shared across many manufactures so got a BMW one for a tenner. Made my boring weekend a little bit interesting!

It's only expensive if you want it to be wink

Have you tried braking hard and putting some temperature into them to see how they are when hot and working hard? Pads like Pagid and Ferodo DS2500 may cost more but perform a lot more too. I'm yet to find a cheap pad that doesn't feel cheap on any vehicle, 2 or 4 wheels.

Works the same as the Brembos that came off it.

Hated the DS2500s, far OTT for road use and rubbish in the mornings.

Can you get replacement pads for a 1/4th or 1/5th of the price I've previously seen quoted on this forum and are they that easy to change without ending up with the common brake squeal I hear these cars suffer from?

I doubt if I'll be able to change them over myself (on my Vantage) but if any half decent mechanic can change them and you can use OEM pads then I might get my local garage to do them instead of AM and pocket the change.

For a professional mechanic it will be a complete doddle. 5 minutes onto the lift, 3 minutes to check brake fluid etc, 8 minutes wheel off and change pads x2, 5 minutes check all brake hoses and check for any major leaks under the car.

I fitted theTRW pads to my V8V. No more brake squeal. Still progressive and solid braking. No fade on a spirited drive.
Never understood the track type hard compound OEM choice myself. My 997CS doesn't have it and is significantly faster round the track so harder on the brakes and my Cayenne TT doesn't have it and is über quick and 2 1/4 tonnes.
Let's put hard pads in cos then it will look sportier on the reviews .......

How long/miles have you had them on for? Have you gone through a complete set yet?
Just interested as I tend to get through half a pad set before squeal comes back.

Only been in about 500 miles but silent so far. Had a new V8V in 06 and even from new any hard braking followed by sedate driving would require complete rebedding. If they do squeal at 1/2 worn ill buy a new set at circa 1/3 price of OEM pads smile

Meanwhile, in the real world . . . . .

Come on now, 8 minutes for wheels off and change pads x2????

Doubtless you would expect engine out, rebuilt, upgraded, chromed and refitted in 2 hours I guess?

Well i would chuck my hat into the ring and say that once a brembo style monobloc callipered car had been raised on a four poster and jacked ready to go, with tools and a n air gun i could do the pads on the front, wheels back on and torqued to spec in under 8 minutes.
Im not a mechanic by trade btw, just a petrol head so a paid 'technician' should walk it ( then charge an hours labour at £*** per unit)

8 minutes each side is perfectly realistic, I did put x2.

Here is a picture of my DB9 on my own personal ramp wink
