After two and a half years and more than 17,000 miles of very rewarding ownership, time has come to move on from AM ownership.
I waved goodbye to my Mako Blue V12V this morning. No regrets but a deep satisfying feeling of having owned a truly amazing and fantastic sportscar. The sound, the seats, the finish quality and the entertaining Corsa Tires combine with the mighty 6l V12 has made every single outing very special...

So, why move on some might say !
Well, I felt like I wanted something even a bit more special and even more driver focused. So, I will be picking up a 5k miles 2012 McLaren 12C at the end of next week. It has a LOT to live up to !

I also wanted to echo some of the recent popular threads on selling privately or through/to a dealer.
It is weird. When I was not selling, I received loads of interest but when I actually put out the advert, it became very quiet (except for all the specialist dealers !) !
The car is in super condition but I guess the potential small saving buying privately does not warrant the extra piece of mind that the dealer provides. There will be soon a very lucky owner I am sure !

I would like to thank (again...) Matt and Gavin at AM Grange Brentwood. They have been really great, provided outstanding service and a very worthwhile way of parting company with my car. I can only recommend them if you are looking to sale, or buy.

And finally, for some of you who have this very special limited edition carbon fiber key case, then rest assured there will be no more as I have no way to check they work now !!!!!

All the best.

I'd like to echo what you say about the chaps at Grange - Gavin is currently helping me out with something that goes way beyond his obligations. I've bought plenty of cars in my time and and Grange are an absolute pleasure to deal with; buying or selling.

+1 for Grange.

Let us know how you get on with the 12c. Really curious to hear.

A trade I've been thinking of for a while, mako V12V to 12C.

But I really want both. One for old school thuggery and one for high tech jiggery pokery.

Do please pop in with an update on how the 12C works for you..

Good luck with the 12C and thank you for all your hard work on the key case. Someone from AM said only last Friday how good it looked yes

Keep in touch.

It's always been a moment of satisfaction when you meet up with an old pal and they realise your driving off in an Aston (I know its shallow but i can't help feeling a little smug) but I have to say if asked the question " so what car do you drive these days" and the reply comes "a McLaren" that has to the ultimate in one- upmanship! Enjoy your new car, Im sure all aspects of ownership will be fantastic and I am a little jealous smile

Good luck
I've toyed with the 12C/650 spider a few times
I'd be interested to hear how you get on!

My whole AM experience has been with Grange and they are absolutely first-class. Will, and have, highly recommended them.

Even better would possibly be, "yeah the V12V is still in the garage, but thought i'd treat myself to this little MP4-12C to sit next to it"!! wink

It's the dark blue car from McLaren Birmigham. They are adding a sports exhaust and a few additional carbon fiber bits next week before i take delivery on the weekend.

I'll make sure to post a few pictures when I take it home.

12C and V12V are very different characters and yes, if i could, i would have kept both, but sometimes hard decisions have to be made !

I have admired the McClaren, rather fancy the volcano orange, funnily enough it's not a colour I would think to choose for an Aston, seems to suit the McClaren.
Bottom line is I would be very reluctant to not own an Aston but AM had better up their game for the new range.
Very strong competition now in terms of performance, fuel economy and styling.

Same here. If they depreciate more I would seriously consider a Spyder. The only modern Supercar I actually want to own.

Add another one to the list who keeps thinking about a McLaren. I really don't want to let the V12V go, but I can't justify owning both.

Very much looking forward to seeing some shots of the 12C when you do collect it. Congrats on making a great purchase! Hopefully you enjoy it as much as the AM.

Ho,ho,that'll be fun if we both get McClarens, that'll spice up the McCaren Forum, all we need now is Tosser Tony.
I can hear you all now,go Steven, please go and get a McClaren and leave us in peace.
On a more serious note the main gripe I read on the Mac forum is that they have introduced newer models rather more quickly than current owners would have thought.

Has it got the buttons on the door or just the swipe to open thing? I always find the latter to be a right pain in the arse.
