Having recently changed the Vantage V8 for a V8 Roadster S I trial fitted the set of original Vantage 19" wheels I have with the SottoZero tyres. The offset on these is obviously very slightly different to the S wheels as there is basically no clearance between the spokes and the caliper.
I don't want to go mad with spacers but fitting a 3, 4, 5 or 6mm spacer would give clearance and allow me to use the wheels I have while retaining sufficient stud length for safe fitment.

Long winded way of getting there but didn't want to spark off one of those Aston Martins don't need to chaved up with spacers etc debates. So does anyone know the specs for the wheel I have seen the stud pattern quoted as 5 x 114.3 and 5 x 120 (can't be both)any idea on hub diameter?

I appreciate I could buy another set of winters but having only purchased the wheels and tyres last year I would prefer not to go to that expense again.

Try putting the width and offsets through this to work out what extra clearance you might get

Hi Mike

I know that from fitting the wheel it will spin without catching when no load on the suspension but the clearance is literally a fag paper so want to fit a spacer to give at least 3 mm clearance for comfort hence the wide range of thicknesses in my original post.
I am thinking the thinner the better to avoid altering the geo set up too much, would like to get something that is accurately made rather than one of the multi-fit ones that are out there hence the request for the fitment specs.

Kev - Why not just change your tyres over on your new wheels twice a year (as I do), sell the 4.3 wheels and have a little money towards your V12V fund? Gets over the TPMS headaches as well.

Pete there is some logic in your suggestion, particularly like the man maths aid for the V12 fund smile I have always liked the idea of having some easier to clean wheels for the winter but your point about the TPMS issue makes a lot of sense.

Does the later TPMS system that I now have still work off sensors in the valve stem or from external sensors?

To answer your question...

All Gaydon cars are 5 x 114.3 mm (or 4.5"). DB7 is 120.65 mm (4.75")(same as Jag XJS/early XK8), and Vanquisk Mk I is 108 mm (4.25"). It is unfortunate that they aren't all the same.

Thanks Steve
Any idea what the hub diameter is, although the reminder about TPMS issues is making me hedge toward just swapping the tyres round on the S wheels.

If I remember correctly, it's 62mm, but that's off the top of my head so I could be wrong.

I bought some DB9 wheels for winter tyres and found they fouled the 6 pot calipers. 10mm spacers sorted that out and they are hardly noticeable ........

The difference to the geometry is negligible.

Thanks Martyn
Did you use ones with the particular spec for the wheels or a multi fitment set?

Got them from www.larkspeed.com £280 a pair. Note that you get new nuts with them in either chrome or black and they fit onto the standard wheel studs as the nuts have a longer thread.
