Glovebox not closing
Discussion
OK thanks, I've tried all that. I'm sure the pin or spring has broken on the solenoid, there is just nothing there for the catch to latch on to.
Is anybody able to confirm that when looking into the slot (with the lid open) you can see the pin?
I'm assuming the pin is sprung loaded which engages with the lid when closed, activating the switch retracts the pin allowing the door to drop?

You are correct. Not the clearest photo in the world but it does show the bevelled latch in the slot as you thought. This retracts when the button is pressed. Hope that helps. Is anybody able to confirm that when looking into the slot (with the lid open) you can see the pin?

Thanks Pete, excellent that shows it nicely. I still can't work out if mine has just snapped off or is just not protruding enough. I've had a good look around and can't see any stray pieces of plastic anywhere.Car is under warranty so will go down that route first.
