when the cars three year factory warranty expires can you just extend the warranty or does the car need inspecting at the dealers?
Many thanks.

If you have it serviced at your dealers, usually you can have the inspection done free of charge at the same time. If it passes, extend away.
Otherwise it needs the inspection paying for.

AM have waved the inspection cost each year when I have renewed. Mine is a 2008 car that I bought privately with the extended warranty in 2012.
Now on 63000 miles.

I use Warranty Direct. Would recommend them anytime. No fuss on payouts and they cover wear and tear too - a general clause where warranty companies tend not to pay out.

I had an Audi Q7 that just kept on going wrong over a period of 12 months had issues with the engine, suspension, sunroof and multimedia system - WD paid out over £7k during the year !!!

WD are much cheaper than AM and a much more comprehensive cover at that.

yeah, would appear so from their homepage blurb.

from a garage perspective dealing with them to lodge a claim for a worn out clutch was painless, my experience of other warranty policies has been entirely painful.

I just got an online quote for a 2007 V8V - quote is £1632

The clutch plate is not mentioned in the policy, so not covered.
How did they pay out for the clutch you mentioned, please?

for those who drive with mechanical sympathy a friction plate burnout is uncommon. What is most common is pressure plate related failure which i termed as breakage. I compiled the claim form, they approved and paid up faster than any other ins company i have the hassle to deal with.

with any other company the clutch is a complete no go wear item no matter the failure.

Never buy online wink

Get to the payment stage and shut down and wait for them to call you in 24 hours. They will offer you a much better deal than that on the website wink

From a sample policy on their website:

Covered: Clutch cable, master and slave hydraulic cylinders and pedal assembly.
Not covered: Clutch cover and plate and release bearing, external linkages or any other part not specifically listed above as covered.

i do remember telling the guy he had no hope claiming for clutch, he said his top level of cover, covered it. I said dream on, he provided me policy, i contacted them, told them problem, they paid up. What more can i say? Publish the job approval form?
