DB7 Vantage comes home for the second and final time!
Discussion
New in here so hello first!
Back in 2000 my late father bought the first DB7 Vantage to be delivered to Scotland, it's the car that sucked me in to becoming a bit of a pistonhead and which has developed into an addiction of all things car.
I drove the car on L plates at 17 just before my driving test and now 11 years on still remember the route we drove from Aberdeen over the cairn'o'mount to Stonehaven, the noise of the V12 and the seemingly endless power, Sadly in 2003 my dad passed and the car was sold on.
As the years passed I've had various performance cars but always still had that love for Astons, eventually found myself trawling the pistonheads classifieds on a monthly basis for the past 4-5 years checking the DB7 section, knowing the spec as my dad repeatedly pointed out to me the sports exhausts, Chiltern green paint and manual gearbox, which helped narrow down the search.
2 years ago just after buying my Sagaris the DB7 came up but didn't have the money and was a bit gutted, never mind I'm sure it will re-appear, fast forward to last month and a green car with sports pipes and manual box appears with a 'Alexanders' sales plate on it, phone call made and sure enough it still has my dad's private plate on it, the plate read his birthday so was always easy to remember, W25 DEC.
And I'm delighted to report in a few hours time the old girl will be rolling off a transporter onto my driveway!!!
it's just been serviced and apparently fitted with a new AP clutch upgrade just out for these older cars, hope it's as good to drive as I remember, even if it's not I still think they are one of the most beautiful cars to see on the road.
Here's one of the snaps from the add but will post a couple later after a drive,

Graham

Thanks folks, I guess I left a few bits out, the main point being that the mutual love of this car brought me and my dad closer together for that last couple of years and allowed us to build a friendship as I exited my undesirable teenage years, where I'm sure most kids don't appreciate their parents I feel lucky to have had that friendship before he passed.
Now that's as emotional as I'm willing to get, think I'll go and sit outside as it's a nice day and wait to hear those 12 cylinders turn over.
