Hi, I have an issue with my hugely expensive standard Aston Martin maintenance charger.

After it has been connected to the car for a while, it starts to click wildly, ie, 2-3 times per second, with the middle orange light flashing in time to the clicks. Disconnecting it from the car makes no difference. If I disconnect it from the wall socket, wait a few seconds and switch it back on, its fine, for a while.

It sometimes goes to green as it should, and at other times, it just has an orange clicking fit. Car has a new battery.

I have about 5 other cheaper maintenance chargers on various vehicles, some for almost 8 years, and they have never had a failure.

My question therefore is.......

1, is the AM charger fked?

If so, I will wire a new aftermarket charger up to the bespoke charger terminal plug from my AM charger once I remove it.

I do not intend replacing the AM charger with the same again, its very disappointing and only 18 months old.

the c tek is a great brand but the model they use for many of the mainstream cars is a real chinese cheap item. the c tek 3600 is a proper one. i dont use the aston one for that reason. i currently have 5 c tek 3600 on all sorts of cars and bikes and never had an issue apart from forgetting i had it plugged in and backing over it. the flatter ones definatley dont work well
