I know there have been lots of threads complaining about the old Volvo satnav unit but mine appears to have a mind of its own.

When you input a location it has arrows pointing you towards it, as well as arrows pointing back the way you came. It also puts ridiculous distances and timescales in place. Earlier, I used it to go from one end of a road to the other (about a mile apart) but it told me the journey was 170+ miles and would take hours.

Is this the same for everyone or is mine buggy? I have checked the settings and can't see anything that tells me why it's behaving so strangely. I have no confidence in this thing whatsoever.

Sounds par for the course.
I use mine as an indication but would not rely on it ,I have my IPad ready for when it gets silly.
Those arrows ?
You haven't been travelling near Sherwood Forest have you ?

It does that if you cancel/switch off before fully reaching a destination.
Then it adds whatever new destination to the itinerary list..

Have you cleared the itinerary?

You should try the range rover system. Drove into central London last week and the sav nav was predicting that with 11 miles to go, my journey time was just 12 minutes. Yeah, right!

Meanwhile, in the Aston - I actually prefer the old Volvo system to the newer Garmin, which looks like a two year old drew it with a crayon.

Well I did wonder about the "Surveillance mode" I came across, but I think it's something to do with traffic updates (for those in countries that get traffic updates)!

The satnav is shocking, I have a TomTom which I prefer to use.
I have heard from a main dealer that new discs are available and there is a firmware update just released, a long shot but worth a try.

It's a pretty pants system - presumably based on Swedish logic:
"Now - where do I want to go today?".
"Hmm - where have I been? I had better forget all that first, in case I go there again.."
"Better have another drink first".
