Hi Guys, I recently (June 2014) bought a 2011 V8 Vantage from a main dealer, since taking delivery the engine cuts out randomly but on a regular basis, sometimes 3 times a week, this has happened while sitting in traffic as well as in the middle of a very busy roundabout, scary!

The dealer has had the vehicle back for tests twice and they say that not fault codes are logged and can't recreate the issue.

Has anyone else had similar issues with the engine cutting out or stalling expectantly.

Any help in locating the issue would be appreciated, as the dealer is clueless.

Is that an issue you have had experience with or word of mouth.

Neither, just seems the logical thing especially with no fault codes.

Exactly the first thing I'd look at if it was in my workshop. It's sad they didn't actually bother testing the fuel pump though.

thanks for the suggestion, the dealer has the vehicle at the moment, so I will check if they have looked at the pump.

They won't look at it for free, they need to take out their equipment and check the fuel pressure etc.

If it's already been checked and there isn't any charge I'd be skeptical.

Do a search on here. There were a few people suffered similar gremlins.

Fuel tank, filler cap or even wires not well enough protected and shorting in the engine bay?

I had issues with an 06 V8 but by 2011 they were resolved. What you will have to do is take an Aston Martin post sales engineer for a drive and replicate. Pm me if you want more information or look at my previous posts, don't have time to write war and peace again...

Had a similar problem with my 2011 V12V. The engine would semi-stall, then continue to run in a limp mode. After several back-and-forths, they dropped the engine and replaced the entire wire harness.

Did the trick. Had 3 years of uneventful motoring.

How much fuel was in the tank when it happened?

The fuel tank vent line inside the tank can inadvertently suck up fuel, which then gets dumped into the intake manifold via the hard plastic hose on the right side of the top front of the intake manifold. Often happens with a full tank, car will stutter or even stall due to the excess fuel. An easy rule of thumb is to keep the tank only ~1/2 full.

It's easy to open up the fuel tank but everything inside has to be one-handed because you can only get one hand in the access port at a time.

Thanks guys for the suggestions.

I will be raising them all with the dealer.

Some of which I had already seen posts about, i.e. the full fuel tank vent issue, for the last 3 months I have noted the fuel level at each occurrence and it doesn't seem to have any impact.

All the suggestions here re what potential root cause could be are valid, along with a number of other lesser known glitches.

Whatever the problem, its a simple case of data logging with the diagnostic tool loaded with the correct parameters to uncover the issue, i cant see why that would present any issue you should fret about as customer.
