On a separate subject to my other thread....

Is it normal for a V8 vantage to wear the inside edge of its front tyres faster than the outer edge?

I just had the tyres replaced because of this issue and wanted the dealer to do a geometry check - which they didn't do (but thats a separate issue).

Was wondering if this is normal - or do I need to go back and get the geometry checked. The car feels ok to drive.

Do you know if it's something a normal garage can do....The main dealer was supposed to do today as part of the tyre change (I expressly requested it) - but they gave me some excuse or another as to why they couldn't and it's going to be really difficult for me to get the car back to them in the near future.

I had to rearrange a lot to get the car in to the dealer today and the dealer isn't exactly in the next street - i'm really pissed off that gave me no advance warning that they couldn't do this work, despite knowing that the kit they needed to use was out of commission and that the kit supposedly available at another garage was very limited in it's availability.

I could really do without taking another day out of work to get this sorted - much easier if I can take it to the local tyre/MOT place at the weekend.

You really need to go to an alignment specialist rather than your local back street tyre place to get the job done right.

Your profile says Cheshire? These guys will do an alignment check (not adjustment) for only £30: http://www.blinkmotorsport.com/wheelalign.html

Yep, no reason to have dissimilar wear on the fronts. You should get anything up to 20k on the fronts, assuming your not on a track day every weekend. Geo needs a look by the sound of it.

A common cause of inner tread wear is too much toe out. This also tends to make the car a little more responsive at the expense of some dartiness. This is a trick used by autoxers to improve the car's directional change capability. If you've noticed any issues with keeping the car tracking true, this may be your problem.

Agreed!
Tyre wear should be relatively minimal, due to the cars weight distribution. It doesn't need extreme geometry to compensate for poor weight distribution.

IME on my first roadster it is normal if you are not cornering a lot
Worth getting the geo done anyway
I've had good service from 9meister in Warrington on geo. They are porker specialists but know their stuff.
Cheaper than Blink with the same kit
