Losing Cylinders!!!!!!!
Discussion
Those cylinders are on the decline, a few have gone missing over time V12-V10-V8
After three-ish fabulous years in the demon V12V, I have spent a few months in an R8 V10 Spyder, this was actually a bit faster than the V12 and the fast revving V10 screamed to over 8,400rpm with an awesome big bike/F1 type howl and handling to match. Frankly it was an adrenalin pump and just as good to drive as the V12, but......... while it was a great experience (it's good to try the competition and have a change, compare and then come back refreshed!), it lacked the feel-good factor that comes with owning an Aston - it just didn't feel as special! Lacking the smell and feel of quality hand stitched leather, real alloy touches, the overall design, flow and beauty, the community.
So a new steed has arrived in the shape of a 15MY Onyx Black V8S Sportshift II Roadster
I fancied going back into a Roadster (you can have fun at lower speeds - honest officer
)and prefer the dynamics of the V8 in Roadster form (although a V12SR was certainly a temptation)with Sportshift for a change.
I'm back to popping into the garage just to drink in those lovely curves. Fuse 15 is out, the roof is down and the V8 is bellowing wonderful music behind me (we won't mention the failed Bluetooth
)

Awesome Grant, congratulations. I do hope you did your research before taking the plunge. There's an excellent book available......
Added to that, nice to see you going back to the V8. I love mine! Happy motoring, let's hope you get some crisp winter days to enjoy top down.
Hi Mark, time you tried the roofless option, better to spot any low flying gung ho pilot types

Audi? Have you written the book?
Relieved that you have 'continued' to see the light.
Enjoy the ride and don't think about the depreciation. Where have I read those words?
Congratulations
Rob thanks for doing the Vanquish owners piece, mine would have been a 15MY Vanquish Volante if I had my own brand of Gin. Relieved that you have 'continued' to see the light.

Excellent choice and I hope more photos are under way (spec etc)
At this point we normally recommend a certain book from some nice chap called Grant, but on this occasion we shall forget that once. Happy Roof down motoring
Ewen, the spec is, Graphite Grey Diamond Turned V-Spoke alloys, black light bezels and rear exhausts, bright finished grille, Black interior with silver V8S special stitching and logos, including carpets/ seats, full piano black console, Premium audio, Memory Seats, Wind Deflector, High Spec Alarm Upgrade, Reversing Camera, Front Parking Sensors, heated seats, Sportshift II, standard Bluetooth, nav etc, etc, etc!At this point we normally recommend a certain book from some nice chap called Grant, but on this occasion we shall forget that once. Looks fantastic! Let us know what you think of SSII. I thought it was great in my V8VS.
It's been around a year since I last tried SSII, and this latest spec has been slightly tweaked. Auto D is pretty mediocre as usual but Sport paddleshift has improved again, smooth up and downshifts, good low speed manouvering and very fast hypershifts, although still a tad quirky when downshifting itself. As they say variety is the spice of life and with all the bad press on SIII I really wanted to live with the system on a daily basis

Have you read your own book?
Of course, but I don't charge enough to justify a DBS Volante

Welcome back Grant! Well done on the number of cylinders and the Onyx. Not so much on the gearbox
Speedraser, I haven't been away just evaluating the competition
I hope you have got your order in for the new 2017 Vantage, it will have a great new engine
... with regards to the gearbox, variety is the spice of life
