No more DB9, or 10? Now what...DB11?
Discussion
With the introduction of this very limited edition DB10 for Bond, what are AM going to call the replacement for the production DB9, presumably not the DB10 'production version'. So, that really leaves DB9.3 or whatever, I guess unlikely for a brand new model, or DB11. Announcing the DB10 is quite clever really, because if the production version is DB11, then all owners of DB9 are immediately 2 versions behind, so it will feel even more of a forward jump for the new model (a bit like what Microsoft is doing with Windows 10 (skipping version 9)), and presumably by doing this, AM will generate lots of interest and therefore sales...? Just my two pence.

With the DB11 being a unique model, the customer version could be a DB111. You know, like in the book. james bond drove one, you know...
Chased goldfinger accross europe in a Db111. Had a phone on the door too. An easy option these days..
Mind you, having re-used virage, volante, vantage, DbS, Vanquish, maybe they should go pre-war and just refer to engine specs. So youd have 6 litre, 4.7 litre. Maybe the hot one is called Ulster, semi-hot the le Mans
Maybe go even futher, and have the "coal scuttle" edition.
Is anyone using the Singer brand these days??

Hell, yeah: http://singervehicledesign.comPS To the OP: the DB10 is obviously the Vantage replacement, not the DB9 successor.

Either way, the DB10 name has now gone. PS To the OP: the DB10 is obviously the Vantage replacement, not the DB9 successor.

Won't be DB11 - that domain name has been owned since 2001 by an unrelated company in British Columbia.
AM have trade marked DB10 through DB14

Ironically they skipped DB8 because they didn't want people thinking it was a V8, but I guess the new DB# will be the 4.0 AMG unit?
By jove you've got it.
DB8 it is then.
Appropriate for the engine, and not been used before.
Brilliant! Those journalists will be so confused. Just think of all that extra free publicity.

I believe in a magazine article somewhere Dr Bez spoke about keeping the "DB9" name, perhaps trying to turn it into a 911-type thing.
Maybe, and maybe that would be a good idea but I'm not sure it's got much to do with him anymore. They'd also have to think of 3 random numbers to nominate the model too so that would then give everyone something to talk about.Gassing Station | Aston Martin | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
