DB9.1 and Vantage Pad Choices.
Discussion
I have been researching the front brakes on the early DB9 and Vantage that uses the 4 pot Brembo calipers including both discs and pads.
Having done a track day with the DB9 now during the development of the coilover suspension arrangement I designed,

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
I have decided to give the brakes a further development over the drilling I have already done that proved most successful.

My first port of call was to investigate what pads were available for the Brembo caliper installed on the cars. Well, it happens to also be installed on the Mitsubishi and Subaru range, so there is in fact a wide range of pads available. My second area of interest is the discs which I would like to eventually replace when mine require changing due to wear and I am looking at some larger diameter floating discs similar to the kits offered by Wilwood, but using the stock calipers and 2 piece floating discs, slightly larger diameter to improve the braking and significantly reduce weight without goind to the silly prices of the CCM discs.
The Wilwood discs simply replace the stock discs with lighter replacements using fixed mounted alloy bells, I am looking to increase the diameter but with fully floating discs on alloy bells.
I will take some pics during the development of these, but for now, and for anyone looking for a choice of pads for a straight replacement on the cars, the following will install.......
Ferodo: DS2500, DS3000, DS3000 +3, DS3000 Endurance, DS111, DS UNO and 4003.
Mintex:M1144, M1155 and M1166.
Pagid: RS4-2, RS4-4, RS5, RS14, RS15, RS19 and RS29.
EBC: Yellow Stuff,
Hawk: DTC-30 and DTC-70.
Apec: 1777
Performance Friction: 01, 05, 06, 07, 08 and 97.
I will not bother with reams of details on all the available compounds, but if you are interested, all the suppliers have compound details on their respective sites and a Google search will bring up all the info you need to make an informed choice.
The Apec's are very cheap, the Hawk pads are renowned for very low dust and all those listed are specialist brake manufacturers.
Happy reading and I will repost when I have news on the discs. They will look like these I designed for BMW.....standard on the left, my design on the right.

I would be interested to see what those three are?
The Wilwoods are not floating so who make the other three? Price differences can also be where you pay for the name on the box, or the fact the manufacturer knows its likely a well heeled Aston Martin owner, because a floating disc that is lighter must be better than a heavier fixed rotor. Whether the improvement is worth the cost is a matter of opinion, but I dont believe £12000.00 is a sound investment for the CCM discs over the steel ones either, but AM do.
