alarm siren failure

After my DB7 alarm sounded all by itself at 3:15 am, I had to solve the problem. A new siren is about £250. I read (wrongly) that the car needs a siren for the electronics to function. This is not so. I could have disconnected the siren and solved my problem since the siren's battery had failed after 11 years. I discovered that AM use a siren also supplied to Landrover. One of their sirens saved me about £130!
