Hi,

I've got a gulf spec DBS, and the constant beeping between 120 - 130kmh is driving me nuts! Does anybody know of a way to disable this? Maybe a magic fuse, like fuse 22?

Any help appreciated, as I'm doing 200km a day between Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and this is pretty much the average speed for the entire journey!

Thanks,

Scott.

What's the speed limit? Heard of someone recently who has bought a car that was originally made for the Japanese market and it warns him everytime he goes over the speed limit. Don't think pulling Fuse 22 will help - other than to make your Aston noisier smile

Hi Ian,

The 'unofficial' speed limit on the motorway is 140kmh, but the advertised speed limit is 120kmh, so all cars that are gulf spec have to have an audible beep when you pass 120kmh - for some reason, AM have decided to have a continuous beep all the way from 120 - 130, where most cars just beep a couple of times, and then shut up!

Yeah, I knew that fuse 22 wouldn't do it (I've already removed it on mine, as it's a crime to quiet those exhausts down!) but wondered if it was controlled by another of the fuses that could be easily removed... AM are happy to remove fuse 22 for you, but I guess they wouldn't tell you about the equivalent for the speed limit beep, as it's a bit more controversial than the exhaust sound!

Hi Scott ,

I fear you will need a visit to the dealer and try to sweet talk them into deleting
the chime , which they may or may not be willing to do . I used to work for Gargash
( Mercedes Benz ) in Dubai and our company policy was not to delete the warning chime as it was a legal requirement in the UAE .
I used to travel that road daily and I can imagine how irritating a constant warning would be , my car used to beep once every time you exceeded 120 , on that road 120 is almost too slow and you become a hazard !!!

Thanks for the reply Chris! Yeah, I was fearing that would be the case, but just wondered if anyone had come up with an ingenious way of getting around it, as I suspect AM will have a similar policy to Mercedes, because of the legal requirement... I really wouldn't mind if it was just one or two beeps, it's the continual beeping that's bothersome!

I've spoken to AM MENA, and they have surprisingly said that they are willing to disable the beeping, however, in order to do this, they need to create a new 'Gulf Spec' program without the alarm for the cars computer, and overwrite the original. They want to charge me £300 to do this!

Does anyone know if you're able to manipulate the computer using one of these iOBD2 Vehicle Diagnostic Scanners? I have one on order, so will have a play when I get it, but just wondered if anyone has any experience with this sort of thing?

Thanks,

Scott.

Being rather new here, I hope to find here often informatio for my DB9 2005, Dubai specs, living in the Netherlands. I was hoping anybody could tell more about how to get rid of the 120 KPH-beep. Is there any news?

Thanks

I have a Gulf DBS in the Netherlands too. You can contact CITO motors and they should be able to do it with a new flash. Mine will be going to a UK Indi at some point. If you go over 130, it goes off until you drop below 114, so just keep your foot planted wink

Hi all,

I realise it's been 3 years since there were any posts on this subject but I was wondering if anyone had found an easy fix for this issue? I have a V8V and the speed alarm has been driving me nuts for years! Thanks

My car was flashed by the dealer over here and its gone.
If you're in the UAE I assume its a legal requirement so other than finding the beeper and installing a switch, you may be out of luck.

Thanks guys, yes i'm here in the UAE at the moment but hoping to ship the car home next year so will need the beeping turned off by then!
