Hello All,

I've been lurking for a while as I've had my Aston on order since end of October. I was lucky enough to get a factory tour in early December to see her being built. I took delivery on Tuesday and today, with less than 150 miles, I've got my a flat tyre. I've spoken to the recovery company and they want to take it back to the dealership. The recovery company says no one can fix it bar the dealer. I have the alloy and tyre insurance. A little annoying around Christmas.

What's people's advice?

Tim

Congratulations and welcome to the wonderful world of Aston. Rules here are that before anyone can give any advice on questions asked you have to show us pictures of your new Aston biggrin. Tell us more about it and hope you enjoyed your first drive in her.

Have the recovery firm actually seen where the puncture is in the tyre because some can be repaired - but you would need the tyre company to come out and see it - or get the tyre to them.

Or the other thing you could do is do what Russell says and let them recover it back to the dealer for them to sort out under your tyre and alloy insurance.

Thanks guys.

This is a picture of the car in my garage. Really enjoy the car. I've wanted an Aston since the age of 14 so this week has been a big deal for me. So much so that I told no one about the purchase until it was safely in my garage.

I actually didn't even tell my partner. I put it in the garage and asked her to put a box in the garage. Unfortunately she opened the garage door and just chucked the box expecting the garage to be empty. The box bounced off the car and she got quite a shock. Thankfully it was only a small cardboard box.

Does anyone know how long it takes the dealer to fix this?

Great looking Aston - is it Tungsten? If so, fantastic colour but I am very biased yes Great story as well and you join many of us who longed for an Aston and manged to fulfill our dreams eventually.

As for how long a dealer would take to get fixed don't see why it shouldn't be done the same day. Why don't you check with the dealer on Monday what you need to do to have it fixed under your tyre warranty?

That's right. Tungsten Silver. Fantastic colour.

Hopefully they'll sort it on Monday.

It's just a tyre and a wheel, not voodoo or magic. Any Kwik Fit or similar (or better) type place can fix a puncture.

Agree - but just need to make sure that any replacement/repair is done in accordance with the warranty that he has.

Thanks guys. The recovery guys said that no one stocks the tyres bar the dealer.

Does it require a new tyre or just a puncture repair? Dealers don't often stock tyres as they can sit on the shelf for too long - mainly because they can be purchased at other outlets at a more palatable price.

As you say you have alloy and tyre insurance with the car I'd got back to the dealer and make sure you get your money's worth wink

It cost me six quid for my last puncture repair. Still, if days without the car aren't particularly important...

OP - congratulations on your new car - beautiful!

I had this repaired last week but I'm guessing that if you have the insurance they just replace the tyre rather than repair it (apparently AM do not recommend tyre repairs!). Personally, if I'd paid for the tyre insurance (and there is no excess) then I would clearly use it.

Where in the UK are you - Outer Hebrides? Lots of decent tyre places have them in stock, avoid Kwackst though.

Fantastic looking car

Thanks for all your help.

Grange took it away and fixed and returned the car yesterday before sunset. Looks like I have to claim directly from the insurance company but all paperwork now completed.
